It's not just Nashville, currently holding a 2.5 game lead in their division, that has us looking to the farm playoff chases. Though Biloxi and Wisconsin are on the edges of their own division races (going to be very tough for each), a resurgent and reconfigured Carolina team now gives us reason to hope youngsters there will gain the pressure experience of a late push and actual postseason games. Keep it going, Mudcats!

There were lots of wins within the Brewers system Friday night, punctuated by the fact that several of the top prospects excelled. OK, so there was nothing but misery in the Dominican, but better that than reversed with the joy at the upper levels - those youngsters have years and years to lick their wounds. Let's get on with it!

Carolina stormed back from an early deficit, ultimately plating ten runs in a satisfying victory. Wisconsin lost 1-0 despite limiting the opposition to a single hit. Biloxi’s offense was dormant in their loss, while Nashville was rained out.

Sal Frelick continued his blistering Triple-A on-base pace - a true sight to behold - while Nashville evened things up on the road in Jacksonville. Wisconsin barely mustered any offensive threats, unfortunately, wasting some truly fine pitching efforts. Biloxi ran into an all too familiar result in Montgomery while Carolina managed to work around another vintage 2022 Figueroa performance (who, according to manager Victor Estevez, is working through a finger issue of some form or another). Oh, and hey, both DSL Brewers squads notched victories. Let's check in on the Farm!

Carolina was the Brewers lone full-season affiliate starting a home series - Wisconsin, Biloxi, and Nashville all took to the road. Results were mixed. The DSL Brewers 1 continued their recent skid of losing while the DSL Brewers 2 managed a classic DSL victory against all odds. Both ACL teams managed to pull out victories - one in dominant fashion and one on a walk-off ninth inning blast - as recent draftees and young prospects continue to make their mark. Let's get to the reports!

The Arizona Blue and Gold squads won two of three games on the day, but our youngsters in the Dominican came up empty. The Brewers received notable contributions from three recent draft picks.

Wisconsin held on for a hard-won series victory, led by a Chourio masterpiece. Biloxi withstood three consecutive homers in a comeback victory. Nashville and Carolina unfortunately gave up late leads in tough losses.

Five days after the conclusion of the World Series, minor league players who have reached the end of their seven-year commitment on their initial professional contract finally get to test free agent waters. In some cases, this is an opportunity to net a contract in the low six-figure range, which is not significant compared to big-league money, yet certainly can compare favorably to career earnings to date. While some players signed for considerable up-front money (hello, Corey Ray), many others did not.

On Friday, Nashville was victorious while the other Brewers full-season affiliate outposts all took losses. On Saturday, the opposite occurred. Despite the Sounds' defeat, Nashville maintains a slim two-game lead in the standings at 66-43, as the Guardians' Columbus squad has had a similarly strong season. Let's check in on that very competitive AAA game as well as see how all the current one-game winning streaks began!

Oh, by the way, you'll read that on three occasions below I refer to consulting MiLB TV archives for play reviews. There is a "move ahead 15 seconds" feature. With the advent of the pitch clock, this feature is truly amazing. You literally bounce from one pitch to the next with a single seamless click. I find it much too remarkable (not to take away from all the fine broadcast work that happens in that industry, especially in the Brewers system).

The Sounds have blessed fans all season long with their exciting winning ways, and that was the case again on Friday night. As for the rest of the chain, not so much, and especially at the lower levels, where offensive production, or lack thereof, was glaring. The headline says it all: there were a lot of games to cover today.

As our Game Thread indicated, it was initially a very full 11-game slate. Officially it became a ten-game ride as a Dominican League game which had previously been rained out was suspended midgame on the re-try. We did see two postponed make-ups played in back-end seven-inning knocks to complete doubleheaders in Carolina and Nashville. Also included tonight was a partridge in a pear tree. Minor League baseball gifts to all, and to all players and coaches a good night.
