To suggest Christian Yelich is a polarizing figure within Brewers fandom is an understatement. He posted two consecutive MVP-level seasons immediately followed by two disappointing seasons, with 2021 being even worse than his already disappointing 2020 campaign. Early in the 2022 season, we see a mix of those two Yelichs. Which will be the real Christian Yelich in 2022?

Baseball fans and experts look to correlate "the numbers" to team success more than in any other sport. The statistical analysis over an entire season will often net expected results. However, those wins and losses don't always fall in line over shorter periods. This season, the Milwaukee Brewers' first ten games have the feel of something not adding up – and it could be a good thing in the long run.

The Brewers came back to American Family Field for the home opening series of 2022, taking on the rival St. Louis Cardinals.  The entire rotation looks to get on track after a rough go-around the first time through, and the offense is looking to find a rhythm as the squad comes into the series with a record of 3-3.  

On Easter Sunday, April 19, 1987, the Brewers were riding a season-opening 11-game win streak. The day was hot - 80 degrees - and County Stadium was packed. But the Brewers fell behind the Rangers and entered the 9th trailing 4-1. Glenn Braggs walked, and Greg Brock followed with a single. Milwaukee Brewers’ pitchers have gotten off to a rough beginning in 2022. With the caveat of it being just five games, heading into Wednesday’s action, Milwaukee’s staff ranked 10th in the NL in ERA (4.80). Above all, the free pass has been the most significant contributor to the staff’s slow start.

Three shutout innings in the All-Star game. It was 1978, and for 22-year-old Lary Sorensen, it was one of the finest years any Brewer pitcher ever put together. Sadly, he would never match his glorious 1978 campaign, and Sorensen's personal life would eventually overshadow his baseball achievements.
