We start a new era of Milwaukee Brewers coverage here at Brewer Fanatic nearly a year ago to the day, when MLB data maven Tom Tango pulled an excerpt from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's weekend Brewers notes column on the once and future ghost runner.

Last week, I wrote about MLB rule changes that may (or may not) affect the Brewers in 2022. Today, we'll dive into other rule changes that will be coming, but not until 2023. Which do you like or dislike? 

It would be a major development for the Brewers if Keston Hiura could regain even a fraction of his prior form and, if early spring training results are any indication, it's not outside the realm of possibility. But what does his spring training success mean?

The MLB offseason was certainly an interesting one. I’m sure many of us had the same thoughts, “Will there be a season?” “If there is a season, how many games will be played?” As a Brewers fan, one of my big concerns was if the lockout would rob me of listening to a true National Treasure, Bob Uecker. Luckily, all was resolved and Brewer fans will have another season of Mr. Baseball on the radio.

Major League Baseball officially announced details for this summer’s Draft late last week. The draft, for the second year, will coincide with MLB’s All-Star Week. While the All-Star Game festivities and draft will take place July 17-19 in Los Angeles, the Draft Combine will be in San Diego’s Petco Park from June 14-20.

MLB and the MLBPA have agreed on a number of new rule changes. Some were part of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Others have been tacked on in recent weeks. To varying degrees, the rule changes will impact the game on the field. Many of the rules being passed lately feel as if they are targeting smart mid-market teams, such as the Brewers. How will these rule changes actually affect the team?

When Milwaukee Brewers President of Baseball Operations David Stearns looks to build a roster, he targets cost-effective ways to eliminate weaknesses on the club. Before the 2021 season, Stearns shored up the defense by acquiring Kolten Wong and Jackie Bradley, Jr. The focus for this past offseason has centered on improving production against left-handed pitchers, an area the Brewers floundered in all of last season.
