Following his spot start against the Minnesota Twins yesterday, Milwaukee optioned starter Ethan Small back to Triple-A Nashville. In his place, reliever Peter Strzelecki was recalled. Both Jake Cousins and Justin Topa continued rehab assignments as well.

What does Milwaukee need to get to the World Series? Some relief might help, and the trade deadline is a prime time to pick up a few more reliable bullpen arms, fueling a deeper run into the postseason.

The Milwaukee Brewers found themselves with an odd final game of a series on a Monday and made a trio of roster moves before getting underway. The club recalled Ethan Small from Triple-A Nashville and designated reliever Connor Sadzeck for assignment. They also flipped outfielder Abraham Almonte to the Red Sox for cash considerations.

The Milwaukee Brewers have been hit hard on the pitching front when it comes to injuries this season. Key starters Brandon Woodruff and Freddy Peralta have both missed time, while a host of relievers have cycled through the injured list as well. Now both Peralta and Justin Topa are nearing a return as they begin rehab assignments.

The 2022 MLB All Star game had several players mic’d including Yankee teammates and battery mates Nestor Cortes and Jose Trevino. That got me thinking. What if Juan Nieves and Bill Schroeder were mic’d up during Nieves’ no-hitter back in 1987?

With Major League Baseball getting back in full swing following the All-Star Break, Milwaukee didn’t take long to make noise. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported the Brewers have signed reliever Jake McGee to a major league deal. The club also activated outfielder Tyron Taylor off the injured list.
