  1. It's like a 12 Step program. Step 1 is realizing we are NEVER in the running for $300m contracts. After that, you understand the economic jiggery pokery required to make the Crew competitive, which, as the last few years under Stearns has shown, we can be. Throwing stupid money, to appease the fanbase, at 'meh' players (ahoy, Mr Suppan), is not DS' M.O. which can only be a good thing.
  2. You hit the nail on the head. The Brewers in regards to pitching sign guys that would normally be back end of rotation guys and make them amongst their top starters. NOT a sustainable strategy. Surely, if the last 2 days deals totaling a half BILLION have taught us anything, it's the ONLY sustainable strategy for a small market team. You're in for a looooong winter if you think for a second any of the top FA starters are coming here.
  3. There's not one "non-Hiura" prospect (I think Hiura's past that stage now) that would get ANY TOR starter, currently. The farm simply is not good enough, compared to others' and what they can offer. Any thought that we remotely have the pieces to make a "significant trade" is wish-fulfillment on the part of some here, rather than a failing of the Brewers FO.
  4. For as "known" commodities as MadBum and Bauer are, I'd want no part of having to root for their brand of crazy in a Brewers uni, thanks.
  5. There were some who thought giving up Brinson to get Yelich was a joke trade, so I'm gonna suggest the FO wasn't sold on Dubon. Getting something for a guy not good enough to oust Saladino sounds like a good return!
