  1. I was so taken aback when I paid $30 for four waters and a popcorn at the women's Badgers at Gophers hockey game a few weeks ago. There were long lines, I made my order, she said $30 and any tips go to such and such youth sports association. It was like an out of body experience, I didn't confirm the prices and mindlessly added a tip to the overpriced water and very average popcorn without question. I walked away feeling like they had some sort of mind control experiment going on at the University of Minnesota women's hockey arena. I can only hope that the youth sports association made more than just tips from all those purchases.
  2. They had this many years ago when our kids were little. It was the one way our family of 5 could go to a ballgame without breaking the bank. We would get the 4 pack plus one extra ticket and share the concessions. I don't recall what the price was at the time but I am glad to hear they brought it back even though we don't go for the cheaper seats anymore now that the kids pay there own way if they come with.
  3. Sure, Twins Daily where 90% hate anything Wisconsin. But yes, there will be some people taking note until about Monday next week.
  4. A stable stadium situation attracts buyers who would want to keep the team in it's current location. It eliminates buyers who would want to move the team. From an the current owners perspective, I am not sure it helps to have a stable stadium situation if you are looking to maximize profits. On the other hand, if you are trying to sell and commit to having the team stay you want that stable stadium situation. From what I read here lately Mark A is cheep and only wants to maximize his profit.
  5. That is all good and fine, it's an opinion piece. It is you who pay for it, not me so you have the say here. My suggestion is kind of a "show your work" when writing a paid for article. I don't think that was done and the article ended with a leading question on if the Brewers can repair their scarred reputation. My other point is that the star player speaking out and being hurt does not hurt the team at all unless he causes problems in the clubhouse. If that is the case it is on him, not the team. Like I said, nobody in baseball cares about it except Brewers fans. I think I saw someone post that it happens 10 to 15 times every year around the league.
  6. For a paid contribution this is crap. The Brewers suck, is there any way they can salvage this? Really? How about a hint of neutrality. Take a look at the two threads regarding this topic. In there are lots of explanations of how the system works. There should have been a little bit of knowledge about this topic before throwing this out there. As for both threads. This is a huge nothing burger. The Brewers reputation was not hurt in the least among the league or potential free agents a year from now. When the Brewers make the next offer to a FA, they will look at the bottom line not how the Brewers acted in arbitration. Nobody cares except fans. Burns says his feelings are hurt but he will be over it in a day or two when he realizes this is how it works and he is doing what he loves.
  7. I can always tell when my company’s execs think the economy is going to crash. In preparation for 2023 we cut our capital budget in half, offered early retirement buyouts, laid off 3000 or so workers, cut travel to only essential trips, cut training funds and more. It is always of sign of things to come with the overall economy. We are deep in preparation mode right now. Oh........and my promotion cycle always ends up at the kick off of this austerity budget so all promotions are on hold until further notice. My boss just started the cycle that takes about 6 months in Q3 of 2022.
  8. Move to the other side of the St. Croix and you can get both. That is the one TV market advantage we have in the eastern MSP TV market among the many disappointments. Or you could move to the Iron Range, they get more Wisconsin sports and news than we do in Western Wisconsin adjacent to the twin cities.
  9. Probably yes for people with chronic conditions. As a diabetic, when my first medication began to loose its effectiveness I had conversations with my Dr about what might be next. Over a year or so of appointments he mentioned the options and I then chose my next med based on my research which was influenced by TV commercials, insurance coverage and out of pocket cost.. That being said, I do dislike those commercials.
  10. Let's hope Contreras is not this but I present to you Jonathan Schoop for consideration: He too was broken hearted upon being traded to the Brewers.
  11. And before long 4 teams didn't want him. It could be more like dating that hot cheer leader only to find out she is a piece of work you can't stand. Not that I think this is a bad pick up but your analogy does not dispute what was said.
  12. My son and I had this exact conversation yesterday. We are unsure of the answer but lean towards its a Rodgers thing. I half expect the seemingly even tempered MLF to slam his headset to the turf on the next 3 and out that consists of two bombs and another bad pass.
  13. I admire that they seem to be waiting until there is some post-storm assessment vs jumping the gun on what might happen. The hurricane will be long gone in 24 hours so there will be plenty of time to assess needs for Sunday. There will be residual showers and storms after the storm passes. Now, if they don't have a plan B, C, D etc well worked out at this time then I would be concerned. What resources would they be taking on Sunday and what should those resources be doing instead?
  14. If it is not cost prohibitive, go for it. However, most discussion I have seen on this topic is that it is cheaper and more practical to buy a regular truck, either gas or electric, and a Honda generator. If you rely on a truck for a generator you will soon find that you need to choose between keeping something powered up vs running into town for any reason.
  15. Towing is not in the ballgame yet due to current technology. TFL tested the Ford Lightning with a 7500 lb camper and it made it 86 miles before it had to be charged. The Tesla semi has been on hold for years because current battery technology requires a battery so large it consumes something like 25% of payload to get the range needed for OTR trucking. There needs to be a step change in battery technology to handle towing situations. There are some promising developments but each option has it's own drawbacks at this time. As far as rentals having charging stations, maybe high end rentals will but my daughter can't even get grounded outlets installed in her apartment.
  16. My wife and I tried the free trial of Kindle Unlimited sometime in 2020, I wonder why. We then rolled that into a paid subscription. I have never read so much in my life, I always struggled to keep it going. I now have an incredible streak going. I read on an iPad so it is always near me in my down time. I just finished The Debt Collector series by John Mills, 13 books. This was the second series about a bad dude doing bad stuff for good reasons helping those in need for one reason or another. I seem to like the conflicting notion of cheering for a bad dude doing good even though his methods are less than humane. I have read a lot of first edition writers on Kindle Unlimited which gives struggling writers, as well as established writers, another forum to distribute their work.
  17. Play ball!!!! Sat out the rain and now back at it. The atmosphere is fun right now at the park
  18. Over the CC years we have seen plenty of players that the fans would have thrown to the curb in May/June become significant contributors in September. On that same note we have seen plenty of players that the fans would have thrown to the curb in May/June DFA'd by August/September but were given plenty of opportunity to be that guy along the way.
  19. This is what I think they are doing except they are not concerned about his current strength and challenging his weakness. I think this is their textbook playbook for determining if a player is worthy of a roster spot in September and not worry about it early in the season.
  20. I think CC’s viewpoint is that we won’t know if Hiura can hit lefty pitching if he never faces lefty pitching. He still has the luxury that the team is winning, we know Hiura can hit righties and he can use AAA to get him right again before the next try. CC has used a similar strategy with multiple players over the years in all areas of play with much success. In this case, I expect to see Hiura and McCutchen batting against their weaknesses until either they figure it out or become platoon players, playing to their strengths come late August. I think this is how he has a history of getting more out of players than the fans/experts ever expected. It looks to me that CC is willing to risk losing early and mid-season games in the hopes of getting more out of his team later in the year.

    Pizza

I forgot to add, Carbone's has the best Pizza Sandwich (calzone) I have ever had including homemade.
  22. I think there's a big difference between Bally's Sports channel being removed and people being denied access to their local ABC affiliate. Big, huge, gargantuan difference. ESPN, while not quite as influential as it once was, is still a pretty big deal as well. The local NBC affiliate in the twin cities has been missing from Dish since the beginning of October. I don't see that one getting resolved soon.

    Pizza

You have to go east for good pizza here. Grand Pizza in Stillwater was a go to when I worked in the area 10+ years ago, I hear they are still good. Carbone's is generally good at least at the east-east side locations (Wisconsin). New Richmond has Vinny's Sports Bar + Grill (excellent). River Falls has Luigi's (very good). If you are St. Paul or west, probably a long drive for just a pizza but it does get you back to God's Country for a bit.
