  1. TheHittingVault.com is a great resource. Lots of drills and other resources. I used it when I coached high school softball. There are a ton of free videos and resources out there, but the problem is a lot of different drills and way of teaching things contradict each other. TheHittingVault isn’t free, but it’s comprehensive and consistent. It’s definitely not for everybody. My son moves up to 10U this year, and I will be coaching my daughter’s 8U team. After 10 years of coaching high school varsity, I’m both very excited and a little apprehensive to work with these young gals!
  2. So your problem is simply based on how the Brewers went about presenting their case, based solely on the (upset) player’s personal recapitulation of what was said (and how it was said. Is that accurate?
  3. What do you mean nobody said that? Anybody saying the Brewers should have not haggled over the 3/4 million $ are saying that they should just pay more than the current system dictates players are to be paid. And we know from Burnes’s taking some details public that the Brewers did offer a higher number during negotiations. They only returned to what they believed that arb system number was when an agreement wasn’t made. Again, that’s the smart move to incentivize players to come to agreement in the future. They’re going to get their best offer through negotiations. If you choose to play hardball…Well, There’s no crying in baseball
  4. Because that would be more detrimental than beneficial to the Brewers long-term.
  5. If only any of that mattered in the current cleverly bargained system. That’s the point.
  6. I’m taken aback by fans who think the Brewers should pay players more than the current system says they need to. If Corbin Burnes wanted more money than the arb system dictates, he needs to commit to more years. That’s how it works in the current system. Why should teams, particularly those who don’t have a shot at elite talent once they are FAs, pay more?
  7. So the Brewers clearly file at what they think the collectively bargained system has set for players, and the player pursues a number they know to be higher than they’re likely to get, and the team is in the wrong???
  8. I sometimes like to disregard the use of facts, context, and reason in arguments, too…
  9. Bad as in “massive Fed rate hikes aren’t cooling the job market yet.” 517k new jobs. Staggering number, really.
  10. Doubt we’ll go hiking. Going to be a very baseball-centric trip, I think, but obviously we’ll have some time outside of the couple of games we are taking in. How early should a person get to these spring games? What’s the environment like? I’ll have a couple of young nephews with. Anything to consider for them? I have no familiarity with the area, but I’ve been doing some research. I’m just looking to avoid making any big mistakes in planning these few days. I’ve read several times that the area around the Brewers’ facility can be dicey. Thanks for the response, Nate!
  11. I’ll be heading to AZ in March for a short trip (Friday-Wednesday-ish) to take in some spring training games with my wife, in-laws, and brother-in-law family. My wife is checking out AirBnB/Vrbo for a decently priced place for all of us. She's found some spots in Phoenix and Mesa. Plan is to take in a game at the Brewers facility, as well as a Brewer game at the Padres’ site.Anyone who has done this before...any insight? Is there big upside/downside to staying in a certain city or place? Plan is to check out two games in the 3-4 days we'll be there, so recommendations on something to check out on our "off day"? Any and all intel would be appreciated. Tell me about things I haven’t even thought about!
  12. Sounds good to me. Been waiting in this for several months now.
  13. I’m pretty happy with it. Winker has a rack record in the NLC that would fit nicely for us. Some upside with Toro.
