Milwaukee Brewers’ pitchers have gotten off to a rough beginning in 2022. With the caveat of it being just five games, heading into Wednesday’s action, Milwaukee’s staff ranked 10th in the NL in ERA (4.80). Above all, the free pass has been the most significant contributor to the staff’s slow start.

Sometimes, as the Timber Rattlers showed us tonight: late means tomorrow. Sometimes, as the Sounds dramatically showed us: late means absolutely nothing doing through seven innings and then a dreamy seven-spot, take the lead and shut the door end to the night. I miss my opportunity to see and report on yet another tantalizing Timber Rattlers pitching prospect in one 6'7" 255-pound Russell Smith. Still, I also check back in my most recent 'up and comer' down in Zebulon in Eduardo Garcia.

Enough of the introductions; let's get into the meat!

For those of us, like myself, who were drawn into the original ‘Brewer Fan’ website (now the beautiful Brewer Fanatic website you are habitually perusing throughout your day) because of the tireless output of Jim Goulart. The fact we are so obsessed over the lower levels of Brewers baseball is largely due to this amazing man.

On Monday the Orioles did something they hadn't done in 32 years. When is the last time the Brewers did it?

Slow starts happen. It’s a part of baseball. The Milwaukee Brewers dropped a series to the Chicago Cubs to start the year off, then lost to an 0-3 Baltimore Orioles team on Monday. The offense looks lackluster. The pitchers aren't executing. What exactly does the team have going for it right now?

Milwaukee Brewers' pitchers hit Willson Contreras twice during baseball’s opening weekend, prompting the Chicago Cubs to retaliate. It is another chapter in the book of Contreras where hit-by-pitches are part of his game, but they make him angry.

The numbers were phenomenal. 18-12 record. 280 innings pitched. 17 complete games. Only 14 home runs and 50 walks allowed. Three shutout innings in the All-Star game. It was 1978, and for 22-year-old Lary Sorensen, it was one of the finest years any Brewer pitcher ever put together. Sadly, he would never match his glorious 1978 campaign, and Sorensen's personal life would eventually overshadow his baseball achievements.

We'll get to game results in a moment, but one of the benefits of MiLB.TV is that we can review the archives in the unfortunate event a player leaves a game in what is clearly an injury situation, but it's not fully documented in the game summary (the authors of the summaries will never speculate, which makes sense).

Some may say it's mainly about development in the minor leagues (and to some extent, it is), but let's be honest, winning is fun, and there isn't a person in the Brewers organization or fandom that can argue with that. So while it would have been nice to see a Cubs "L" flying in Wrigley Field Saturday, you'll find the maximum number of "W's" within today's Minor League Link Report. The affiliates are now a combined 8-2 on the very young season.

After allowing the AAA club to bask in their solo spotlight for a bit, it was time to peel back the curtain on a full slate of games for the Brewers' affiliates. Mother Nature had other ideas, but hey, an undefeated night is an undefeated night!

The 2022 Major League Baseball season is upon us. Fans are sure to have opinions after two or three games. There will be overreactions of both the good and bad nature. It is, after all, the first week of the season, and every team is in contention. That said, let’s take the Delorean back to April of 1994. How would I react to a new era of Brewers baseball?
