The Brewers come into a weekend set at AmFam field with the Nationals before heading out onto the road for an eleven game trip. The Brewers will send Eric Lauer, Brandon Woodruff, and Freddy Peralta to the mound in the three game series as the Crew looks to extend the four game lead they currently hold over the second place St. Louis Cardinals.

The Biloxi Shuckers could not overcome Noah Zavolas' continued struggles since his 2022 return and, ultimately, fell to the Mississippi Braves. Elsewhere in the system, Wisconsin batters found their strokes and supported the ever-dominant Brandon Knarr who continues his lights out 2022 campaign. The Carolina 'Micro Brews' managed to hold on to their slim lead after an extensive weather delay pulling out a 2-1 victory, and Nashville was shut down by inconsolable and fickle weather after taking a 7-0 lead into the third inning. Carolina comes back from a 4-run deficit with 2 outs in the 9th to win on a Hendry Mendez walk-off grand slam. Biloxi also battles to steal a 4-3 win. Nashville’s pitchers combined on a 5-hit, 4-0 shutout victory. Wisconsin’s bats never got going in a 6-2 loss.

I first noticed it moving back to Wisconsin from the middle of the country about ten years ago. Actually, before that. The rust stains from rain rolling off the roof panels on the outer stadium facade appeared only a few years after Miller Park opened. And with every trip to the ballpark, gameday or otherwise, I've noticed something else every time I've visited.

Alexander Cornielle and Carlos F. Rodriguez combined on an 11K Mudcat 9-2 victory. Justin Jarvis’ 10K gem wasn’t supported with enough Rattler runs. Biloxi’s bullpen allowed a 4-0 lead (on 3 home runs) to evaporate. Terrific efforts by Dylan File and Tyler Herb (9 innings, 1 run, combined) went for naught in Nashville.

Father Time appears to be taking its toll on Milwaukee Brewers' center fielder Lorenzo Cain. The 36-year-old veteran looks like a shell of his former self at the plate, and the club may have to make a difficult decision soon.

Greetings, forum!  After a rough week, the Brewers bounced back nicely, winning four-of-six last week and stretching their lead in the NL Central to four games over the second-place Cards.  Milwaukee won Wednesday in thrilling fashion, getting key contributions from players who were not on the big league roster when the forum week started on May 13.  Trevor Kelly's first major league win and Keston Hiura's walk-off blast are a great reminder there is more to the Brewers than Milwaukee and there is more to Brewer Fanatic than our major league forum.

Ethan Small was scratched from his start late due to ongoing Nashville clubhouse non-COVID related sicknesses. Thomas Jankins took the challenging role of the spot-start. Meanwhile, Andy Otero got his first relief work at Triple-A while Fernando Olguin got his first starting work at Low-A Carolina. It was truly one spectacular game-winning or game-saving play after the next. From Jonny Davis' game-saving diving catch or his game-tying home run, to Joe Gray Jr's game-winning two-run bomb over the wall in left field in the bottom of the eighth inning of a 1-1 game, to Sal Frelick laying out in shallow center for a crucial out in a 6-2 game. For the second time already this season, a Milwaukee Brewers player has been suspended for 80 games following a positive PED test. JC Mejia will miss the nearly three months of games and be ineligible to compete in the 2022 playoffs.
