Hunter Renfroe struck out five times and walked once over 13 at-bats this weekend, but made a big bang regardless with three long dongs.

My Link Report cohorts Joseph and Daniel (co-Rookie of the Year Awards for them, by the way) have taken a bottom-to-top approach this season in that their reports have kicked off from Class A Carolina and worked their way up to AAA Nashville. I will have to re-think my more traditional approach because the 2022 Mudcats have been great fun from the start given their energetic youth and exciting moments. Saturday's doubleheader sweep did not clinch a first-half playoff spot, not at all (one game lead over two other clubs with four games to play), but it put the exclamation point that included Brandon Woodruff's promising K-fest rehab start, Biloxi winning in a rout, and the formal end of the Timber Rattler first-half playoff hopes. All that being said, here's another "traditional" top-to-bottom review.

Until all the tough conversations are had and we genuinely bridge and reconcile racial divides in this country, Juneteenth will only be salt in the wound. The game that gave us Jackie Robinson, Larry Doby and Henry Aaron can and should lead the way.

We'll often let the full-season clubs break down much of the game action minutia within their team site summaries and tweets, but we have no such luxury at the rookie complex levels. With Father’s Day upon us, I thought I’d get a little personal. This is a story of growing up without a father, how my love of baseball began, and how my father not being around was his loss, not mine. 

The Milwaukee Brewers made a couple of procedural moves prior to action on Friday night. Former 5th overall pick from the 2016 draft, Corey Ray, was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville. Pitcher Jandel Gustave and catcher Pedro Severino also began rehab assignments with the Sounds.

Every Biloxi batter had at least one base hit in their 11-4 win. Nashville nearly turned around a seven-run deficit, but fell 7-6 in Memphis. Wisconsin fell behind 12-0 in their big loss. Carolina and Columbia were rained out, so will make up the game on Saturday. Only one of the four short season squads were victorious.

Greetings, forum.  Please have a seat.  Let's talk about what happened since my last Forum Friday way back on June 2.  Back when the Brewers were 12 games over .500, in first place, and well on their way to making the playoffs for their fifth straight year.  I don't want to point any fingers, but teams just don't go 3-10 by accident, and there is plenty of blame to go around. 

The last two weeks are in the past now, so let's see if we can regain our mojo in the coming week.  We can't afford too many more weeks like the last two.  I have no desire to write for CubFanatics.com, just as I am sure none of you want to post on their forums.

Hoby Milner is on a tear. The 31-year-old relief pitcher has been turning heads as one of the most reliable arms in the Brewers’ bullpen this season. Will it continue?

The Milwaukee Brewers' offense isn't working. They are tied for the second-most shutouts this season and have shown little ability to consistently score runs. A change in their collective philosophy at the dish is required, focused on more aggressiveness with the sticks.

There are seven scheduled games remaining in the first-half seasons for the Brewers' three full-season clubs below the AAA level. Second-place Biloxi (27-30) won on Wednesday but remains on the very fringe of the have-hope world, standing 4.5 games back, six in the loss column. Second-place Wisconsin, despite a fine 34-24 record, dropped a game further back, and now is 3.5 games from the top spot. Carolina has been fortunate to be in a very balanced division with the top six teams all within three games of .500. The Mudcats (30-29) have caromed on a now five-game skid at the worst possible time, and sit in second place, albeit just one game out. AAA Nashville's playoff fortunes are based on their full-season exploits, but the Sounds' stellar 37-24 mark gives them only a 1.5 game lead over both the Guardians' and Cardinals' clubs. Time to examine Wednesday's 2-2 mark on the farm.

Just a day after being claimed on waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers, Chi Chi Gonzalez has been added to the active roster. All-Star closer Josh Hader has been placed on the Paternity List to make room.

With a little over a month left until the 2022 MLB Draft kicks off, things seem to have started to settle down. And by “settle down,” I mean “players have stopped getting hurt so frequently.” (Immediately knocks on wood.)

The Willy Adames trade paid massive dividends for the Brewers in 2021, but can Willy be the spark the Brewers offense needs for the second straight year?

The Brewers are famous for run prevention, but how deep is the pool between that reality and them fading in to non-competition? Another low cost arm wouldn't hurt, so why not try and grab on to the talents of a former rival?
