The Sounds raced to an 8-0 lead behind solid performances from Sal Frelick, Esteury Ruiz and young starter Victor Castaneda, then held on for a Game One victory.

Name the first Brewer ever elected to start an all-star game? Most fans would struggle for the answer. Maybe George Scott with his monster 36 HR campaign of 1975. Or perhaps it was one of Yount, Molitor or Cooper. But the answer is Don Money in 1978. It was one of four all-star appearances for Money - who went on to have a steady 11-year career in Milwaukee. 

The Brewers top two affiliates are dueling with the Marlins' clubs this week, and Friday saw a split decision. Nashville gave their fans a rare silent night, while Biloxi is reminding us of how their season began, and that's a very good thing. As of this coming week, the Sounds will stand alone, but Zavier Warren and the Shuckers are giving us reason to follow them to the very end. As much of a dud as Nashville played, the men still maintain a solid division lead as another page flipped on the calendar.

The season isn’t over yet, but is it about time to ask what changes the Brewers will make in order to improve for next year?

The Milwaukee Brewers are still attempting to secure a spot in the 2022 Major League Baseball postseason, but this afternoon the focus turned to minor league action. With the Arizona Fall League rosters being unveiled, Milwaukee fans found out who would be representing the Brewers in Glendale.

The Brewers sit 8.0 games back, with an elimination number of 12 in the NL Central behind the Cardinals. So lets’ look for some hope.

Brandon Knarr led the Shuckers to a 7th straight victory in a tight 1-0 affair. Esteury Ruiz gave Nashville an early lead which held up behind excellent pitching.

Fans and experts have debated the value of the Milwaukee Brewers' offense all season. In a handful of ways, the offense is better this year and has kept the club in playoff contention. But the biggest issue is the lack of top-level bats in the first four spots in the lineup, especially compared to MLB standards and the bottom half of Milwaukee's order.

The headline says it all. Sal Frelick is an on base machine. His key three-run homer not only extended his personal on base streak to 31 games (second in the International League at present), it gave the Sounds a 4-2 lead. Clutch stuff from the young stud. Esteury Ruiz broke the Sounds single game steals record with five stolen bases by the fourth inning. Those early 1980's Sounds teams were legendary. I tip my cap to Otis Nixon's record that held for decades, but, I have to think Ruiz's record will hold for even longer. My goodness.

And then there were two - Biloxi and Nashville. What a long strange trip it always is. We begin each season with four full-season affiliates, we add four summer league teams (in the Dominican and in Arizona), and then we lose the same four summer league teams. Finally, we whittle away Low-A and High-A and we enter the home stretch. Soon there will only be our beloved Nashville Sounds left standing. The Minor League baseball season is a wild and wooly beast and we are here for every step of the way.

It’s make-or-break time in Milwaukee. With the next 8 games scheduled against division winners the Brewers will look for a stretch of competitive baseball to stay in the playoff hunt. Here are the most important players for the upcoming stretch.

Hope and potential are two of the most dangerous terms in sports. With three weeks left in the MLB season, the Milwaukee Brewers have given its fans hope for a potential postseason berth. The remaining schedules for Milwaukee and the San Diego Padres provide both credence.

Over the weekend Milwaukee made a handful of transactions that impacted the Major League roster. Starter Freddy Peralta was placed back on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation, and he was joined by Eric Lauer, who’s dealing with left elbow inflammation. Trevor Kelley was recalled from Triple-A Nashville.

Carolina led from start to finish, with Luis Castillo and Robert Moore contributing six RBIs. Biloxi won their series on a suicide squeeze. Nashville dominated behind Boushley, Ruiz and Wiemer before imploding in the 9th. Wisconsin’s finale was rained out.
