The early years of the Milwaukee Brewers franchise were not pretty. In the first three years in Milwaukee, the team lost more than 90 games each season. But the era would reward the club with some good players. One of those was slugging outfielder Johnny Briggs.

The Brewers’ 2023 schedule (and every other team in Major League Baseball) has a new look that makes road trips that much more appealing. So let’s see what we can find.

With a little over a month left until the 2022 MLB Draft kicks off, things seem to have started to settle down. And by “settle down,” I mean “players have stopped getting hurt so frequently.” (Immediately knocks on wood.)

Gorman Thomas. He was scruffy and disheveled. He looked like he had had a few too many beers and eaten a few too many cheeseburgers. On any given night you could count on him running into a wall, striking out, or hitting a home run. It was the glory years of Brewer baseball, and Thomas became one of the most beloved players in franchise history.

Baseball is a game of round numbers and milestones. Somehow, some way, 39 feels so much closer to Opening Day than 40. Brewers By the (Jersey) Numbers has reached the 30s, as one month away is suddenly appearing over the crest of the hill ahead.

Whether you know him best as Devin, DTrainn, Dave, or #ROYWilliams, there's no denying what an integral piece of the Brewers puzzle their current closer is. Opening Day is in 38 days.

In 1976, 23-year old Bill Travers broke out with the Brewers with a 2.81 ERA over 240 innings (including 15 complete games) and an All-Star Game appearance. It made Travers one of the first successful home grown pitchers for the young Brewers organization.

Though I enjoy analyzing and breaking down the Milwaukee Brewers, I'm still a fan. The Brewers appeared in their lone World Series the year I was born, so I'm in that middle ground of experience with this franchise where many younger fans and plenty of older fans exist and might see the club differently. This is my take as a baseball-obsessed fan.
