Two Cy Young candidates met on Friday night in Milwaukee, and the guy with a Cy Young Award already was just a little better to help the Brewers to a big win to help them keep pace with the Phillies in the Wild Card race. 

In a Must Win game, the Brewers and Marlins fought hard. In fact, they needed a little overtime to determine the winner. From about the seventh inning forward, every inning was immensely intense.

The Milwaukee Brewers raised their team OPS from .599 to .724 in a mere nine contests. It has been a remarkable run of power that the metrics saw coming, culminating in an 18-run outburst Wednesday and another 10-spot Thursday in a sweep of the Cincinnati Reds.

You read the title right. I’m writing about the current Brewers. There’s no Jaha, no Robidoux, no Riles. Instead, let’s talk about Keston Hiura and his return to the majors.

Corbin Burnes wasn’t in midseason form on Opening Day (as you would expect), and the Brewers were unable to come up with enough big hits and fell to the Cubs on Opening Day.
