    Scouting Report

    7/26 Update:

The son of Royals president Dayton Moore, Robert knows his way around the game.

Though small at 5' 9", 170 pounds and having played mostly second base, Moore was drafted as a shortstop and has a chance to stay there. The fielding tool is plus.

Offensively, Moore hit more home runs than his size would lead you to believe he should, but he will only have near-average power. Moore's offensive output declined after a solid 2021 season. He entered the 2022 season with hopes of being a first-round pick but a disappointing 2022 season led him to drop down boards.

Says VP of domestic scouting, Tod Johnson, of Moore:

    Quote

"He had kind of a rougher year last year and that's why he was available to us at 72. He didn't show the same amount of power but we really like a lot of the foundation of what he was good at offensively that was still there. He still controlled the zone."
