DeRosa leaves spring training on a stretcher (Latest: successful heart procedure... reply #7)

Apparently irregular heartbeat which has happened before, but still has to be scary. Will this make them go after Brian Roberts even harder?

Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

Hope everything ends up ok for him, and I think I have an irregular heart rate every time I step on the soccer field. That or I'm horribly out of shape.

Or it could just be your American genes reacting to stepping on a soccer field. Best wishes for a normal life to him.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

I don't think it was surgery exactly. my understanding is they do something to induce the arhythmia, find out the minute portion of the heart that is responsible for it, then do **something** to kill that minute bit of tissue. I don't know exactly what is going on, but they aren't cracking his chest or anything.

of course, I'd be scared (nearly) to death if it was happening to me.

According to the article, that 'something' is radio frequency catheter ablation. So basically they inserted a tube into one of his veins/arteries, ran it up into his heart, and fried off the problematic tissue with an electrode using radio frequency energy.

Just like field surgeons did during the Civil War...
