Lasik Plus

Menotti80

I had it done seven years ago - best thing I ever did. I was 20-15 after the surgery and now am probably 20-20 (haven't been to the optometrist in a while - need to do that). I had it done in Brookfield at a place on Bluemound, but it wasn't LasikPlus; it was right across the street from a hotel (I think a Hyatt). Same as everyone else - went back to the hotel & took a nap, had a pizza delivered for dinner, went to bed (make sure to wear the shields), and woke up 20-15 the next day. To answer some other questions:

1) Ask how many procedures the doctor has done. The doc who did mine had done something like 25,000. That's all he did all day long. Look for someone who specializes in it, and not an optometrist who does it on the side.

2) Contacts - depends on what kind. Soft contacts you need to be out of for two weeks, hard or gas-permeable (what I had) is a month. Good time to do it is the fall when it is cloudy so you don't need sunglasses. Sun reflecting from snow can be tough with glasses.

3) Make sure to wear the eye shields. Can't emphasize it enough. The #1 cause of screwing it up is people not wearing the shields afterwards and accidentally putting pressure on their eyes when they sleep.

4) Your eyes may be a little drier after the surgery, but seven years later I go through a box of eye drops (~$10) once or twice a year.
