There no longer is a banned bat's list for Southeastern WI!

Rightomac13
Last night the South Eastern Parks and Rec. Committee held their annual softball meeting. A vote was taken and it was decided that all bats legal according to http://www.asasoftball.com/about/certified_equipment.asp and with a ASA stamp will be eligible for play this season. In the past, Milwaukee county and city made it a point to ban all composites, but that is no longer the case as long as it is a 98-mph bat (the ASA limit) with the ASA mark. I know a couple of you were planning on buying bats, so this helps out a ton. Just thought I'd pass that along for those that care...

I can't believe the SEPRC was operating with a banned list beyond what the ASA puts out. I pitched/played enough in Madison to tell you that there isn't going to be some miraculous difference. Did SEPRC have some player injuries that were purportedly related to certain bats? I don't understand why they'd not just use ASA's criteria/list.

ASA bat lists will be followed for the 2008 Milwaukee Rec season, all leagues.

Absolutely no modifying of bats is acceptable. Fractions of rules will result in a life time ban of player(s) using altered bats.

This simply means that although the Milwaukee Rec department no longer distributes a list of banned bats, there are still banned bats. You need to check bats for usage on the ASA web site. If ASA has outlawed it, you can not use it or you say goodbye to playing softball.
