BPro NL Central spring training preview

This was supposed to be the Brewers' strike year, the year their young talent came together and produced a winner, perhaps the start of a mini-dynasty in the game's maxi-division. That could still happen, although the 2008 Cubs look a bit more formidable than they were projected to be. Still, this could be a 90-win team if it wins more of the bullpen bets than it loses, and if the payoff in signing Cameron shaves 40 runs off of its RA-adding him makes third base better, too, although Milwaukee will give some runs back in left field as Braun learns the position. Whether they win this year or not, this is the most entertaining Brewers team in a quarter-century.

"Whether they win this year or not, this is the most entertaining Brewers team in a quarter-century. "

And yet, so many BF.netters still find a way to do nothing but sweat the small stuff. "Oh no, Yost said this," etc. Take off the pessimist panties and start to enjoy what is to be a very fun year.

Why drive this thread in that direction. I wish strikes could be given for baiting.

I don't want to diminish BP at all, but this statement is really is just a throw away statement at the end of a really trite piece.

Just because some guy at BP said the Brewers are "entertaining" isn't our cue to start opening up the boxes of wine.

I've said it before, some people are wired optimistic, some pessimistic. It's hard for one to be the other. One is not a better fan than the other.

It's probably worth noting that the 1987, 1989, and 1992 teams were plenty interesting in themselves and would have been post-season teams under the current format. And it's not like the 2007 team wasn't entertaining. That's a throwaway sentence that doesn't mean a lot.

That said, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the 2008 team.
