Your favorite baseball videogame of all time?

Bballerfan1212

As baseball season approaches we have a new crop of baseball video games to look forward to as well. What is your all-time favorite baseball game and what game are you most looking forward to this year?

If I'm going to wax nostalgic I'd have to say that I still play a bit of RBI for the original NES every once in a while.... These days I've got a PS3 and I play MLB 07 : The Show.... I'm really looking forward to the 08 version.... It's got a couple of new features that look really cool. A new batting system that allows for hot and cold streak hitting. Enhanced graphics ( made for the PS3) and a new Scouting system to help you find good online opponents...

i like the ea games but i really enjoy bad news baseball..pretty similar to rbi, but you can slide and dive which makes it a bit more fun...rbi brings back tons of memories as well, mostly me and my friend staying up all night playing each other and then throwing the controller everytime the shortstop should go for the ball but the controller sets it on the 3rd baseman (and other similar situations)

Probably the second Griffey game for N64, the one where the batting cursor was shaped like a bat, rather than the circle of the first one.

Others include World Series Baseball '95, I think, for Genesis. And MVP '05. That was great. There was a year or two there were All-Star Baseball was really, really realistic - like it even had Rule 5 and stuff.

And that Roger Clemens game for NES, where the names were just mixed up, like Cal "Nepkir".

My favorite too. I thought this was the best batting interface of all time, and part of the reason I like MLB Power Pros for Wii is that it's very similar to N64 Griffey. If only the AI on this game was a little better...even on the highest difficulty, I think I broke Hack Wilson's RBI record during a season with Carlos Delgado.

Much like everyone else, I have progressed...

Starts with RBI Baseball

then

Ken Griffey Jr. Slugfest

then

All-Star Baseball on PS2

then

MVP Baseball 05 on PS2

and last year I got

MLB 2K7

The best one though is MVP 05. I still play it and have completed 4 full (162 game) seasons.

I need a baseball vid. What's the best one available on PS2?
If it's not The Show again, that means they messed it up, ginormous-time. It's going to be The Show '08. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Come on guys we all love the Griffey games, MVP 2005, and R.B.I. baseball, but nothing can compare with Dusty Diamond's All-Star softball. It's a lot how like Madden is good, but nothing will ever be better then Tecmo Super Bowl for the Nes with QB Eagles and the unstoppable Nose tackle. I think baseball gaming reached it's pinnicle when your playing a friend in Dusty Diamond's All-Star softball and he has to make a decision between the 4-hole hitting Fuji who sucks at defense or taking the best pitcher by far Flip. In my mind you gotta take Mikey first cause he is the all around best player, but Flip is definetly a top 5 pick. In the single player game you have to beat a team of super awesome girls named the amazons. The game has unique fields with most having a HR line that you can catch the ball over. (I like playing at the school House cause if you hit a HR, but break a window it's an out, I like small ball). The real fun comes drafting your team agains a friend cause everyone will have on player who is their guy. Check it out here.

MVP 2005 was great, but it was MVP 2004 when Chad Moeller was the team leader with a whopping 65 HR.

My favorite game in MVP 2005 was when Ben Sheets was one out away from throwing a no-hitter against the Blue Jays...and I blew it.

Wow, I guess I'm in the minority when it comes to the Griffey games. I absolutely loved "ML Baseball with Ken Griffey Jr." and never really got into Slugfest. Too used to the original I guess. For more modern ones I'd say definitely MVP '05, only played it for PS2 though.

Legends of the Diamond- regualr nintendo. If you've never played this, dust off the old system and head over to funkoland (if this place still exists?!). Great game. Pretty much the only history lesson of baseball I've ever had.

I've played RBI to death, and High Heat 2002 was awesome and realistic, but MVP 2005 (for the PC) is the bomb since I can still play with updated rosters and modded stadiums, etc. I also play Diamond Mind Baseball, but that's not quite a video game as it's more of a simulator.

Sorry to hijack the thread but my excitement has gotten the best of me. MLB 2K8 is coming out for the Wii. Finally a real baseball game on the Wii. Not cartoons, not roided up super heroes, and not Wii Sports. A real baseball simulation game is finally coming out on the Wii. Interestingly enough the trailer for 2K8 is online today. Looks pretty sweet and features our very own Brewers in a couple of the scenes. Unfortunately Braun is featured at 3rd base but he does make a nice throw to Prince to get the out. You can check it out on 2K sports' site.

NES, in order:

1) Baseball Stars

2) Bad News Baseball

3) Baseball Simulator 1.000

4) Little League Baseball Championship Series

5) Bases Loaded

Honorable mention to RBI Baseball on NES and Ken Griffey Jr Presents on SNES. I've been pretty unimpressed with all the offerings I've tried on PS2, be it The Show, MVP, whatever.

"Hi. This is Ken Griffey Jr. Let's play Major League Baseball."

That was my favorite too. Out of the recent games I liked the MVP series the best. I enjoyed the college baseball game they put out and was bummed to hear that they aren't doing one this year.
