Recommend a cheap Cd

pogokat
Ok here's what's up: I want you to recommend a cd to me that you think everyone should hear. the rules: This has to cost less than $5.00 at amazon.com it cannot suck i want recommendations for things i might not have heard before...i've got tons of music already, so don't be afraid to be obscure... also, lets keep it to one per each person...i'm actually planning on buying a bunch of discs, so don't give me a laundry list 1 album, not the entire catalogue...ie, say "American beauty" by the grateful dead as opposed to saying "dude, get some dead cd's..." finaally, links to a place where i can buy the cds would be cool, but it's not a big deal if you don't.. i'll play along myself here as well...

$5 does not include shipping and handling...

the point of the $5 bucks is that i can afford to drop like $50 and get a bunch of cds...and it makes you think..if it was $10, you could get practically anything...

Sister Hazel - Chasing Daylight

I have no idea what kind of music you listen to. This may not be anything close to what you are interested in, but this is some of my favorite. I love Sister Hazel. Any of the mainstream songs you've heard by them on the radio are nowhere near their best stuff (though still good). I recommend if you give it a shot - if you dont like it you don't like it. Let me know what you think if you end up listening.

p.s. Their other CD's are good to- but this one is my favorite AND was the only one around $5.00.

It's here on Ebay for a Buy It Now Price of $3.84 something.

Neutral Milk Hotel: "In the Aerop

National Skyline: "This=Everything" (titled "This Equals Everything" on Amazon)

The band was founded by Jeff Dimpsey (Hum) and Jeff Garber (Castor, Year of the Rabbit). Last time I figured it all out, it was my 33rd favorite album of all time. I think you've heard of most of the 32 above it, so I'm going with this one. Kind of a Depeche Mode vibe.

If we're talking new (ie- not used), I like the Fat Possum "Not The Same Old Blues Crap" compilations. Volumes 1 and 2 are on Amazon for $5 each new. Volume 3 is a little more ($6.28).

They have guys like Junior Kimbrough, The Stooges, Paul Westerberg, Hasil Adkins, The Black Keys, RL Burnside, Joe Callicot, Mississppi Fred McDowell and others. Well worth the couple bucks, imo. I'd say Volume 3 is the one to go with, but if you're firm on the $5 thing, 1 & 2 are also good options (or, you could get volume 3 used from Amazon).

I too have been on a cheap CD buying kick lately. You've got to love Electric Fetus up here in Minneapolis for that. They sell "cut-outs" which are out of print CD's new for pretty cheap prices. I got a double-disc Fire Records compilation for 1.99 and a Fat Wreck Chords compilation for $.99 last week. I've found some really cool stuff there that maybe I wouldn't normally buy because I wouldn't want to waste $15 on an impulse buy. With the cut-outs, that's not a problem.

speaking of this topic, has anyone tried ordering used CD's through Amazon's marketplace? There are a few out of print CD's I want, but I don't want to hunt all over town and have a slim chance of finding them even then.

So, I'm curious if people have had good experiences or not (and if there is any policy to protect buyers).
