Former Brewers' farmhands

DHonks

Just saw that Ruddy Lugo has his ERA below 4 in Tampa. Was he traded with Tyler Houston for Diggins and Nance?

Also, Eliezer Alfonzo continues to do alright. Hard to believe the Brewers would let a halfway decent catcher go.

Reminder from Baseball America:

Lugo expressed interest in continuing to both hit and pitch as a pro, but the Brewers drafted him in the third round in 1999 with the sole intention of using him as a pitcher. They eventually sent him to Los Angeles in the Devon White-Marquis Grissom trade.

Now that Link Report season is over, I should have time for a complete overhaul and update of the Alumni thread, which is way overdue for some attention on my part...

Alfonzo has made a lot of friends in San Francisco. Mike Matheny is a tough act to follow up, but I'd say the 1996 undrafted Cardinals free agent signing has filled in just about seamlessly.

It will be interesting to compare the two's career high VORPs come next season.

Alfonzo spent nearly three full seasons in the Brewers' chain after the Fernando Vina deal, and was a teammate of Corey Hart in both High Desert and Huntsville for almost all of 2002.

That'd be a couple of interesting nuggets for Daron to share, not sure if he has, or if Jim Powell has, either.
