Statute of Limitations

jaybird2001wi
I am not sure if this would fall in with the Mitchell Report topic, but lets just say for hypothetical cases, a ballplayer from the 80's was suspected of using cocaine or running a meth lab. I understand there was a major congressional hearing in 1985 or 1986 involving Keith Hernandez, Mookie Wilson, et. al for cocaine. Would players face legal issues if they were once found to be in possession of narcotics in the 80's, early 90's?

going back on my brief criminal justice history, i believe that they would have expired after 5 years or so. Murder is the only crime that i can think of that has no limit. I think rape has a longer one and possibly some federal crimes(i.e. tax related).
