Randy Ready will take the helm of the Triple-A Portland Beavers. Ready served as manager for Double-A San Antonio in 2007, leading the Missions to a 73-66 record and the Texas League Championship. Prior to joining the Missions he served as manager of the Padres Single-A Midwest League affiliate in Fort Wayne from 2004-2006, leading the Wizards to a 208-209 record (.499), including a playoff berth in 2006.

Jose Flores makes his managerial debut for the Rookie League Peoria Padres in 2008, after serving as the Short-A Eugene Emeralds hitting coach in 2007. A former infielder, Flores spent the 2006 season at the Triple-A level in the Cleveland Indians and San Francisco Giants organizations. Flores will be joined by first-time coach Bronswell Patrick. Originally selected by Oakland in the 23rd round of the 1988 June draft, the right-hander pitched in parts of two Major League seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers (1998) and Giants (1999). Bob Skube moves from Single-A Fort Wayne to take over as hitting coach in his second season in the Padres system, while Ernesto Vega, Jr. returns for his second season as athletic trainer.

What about the infamous Billy Jo Robidoux? I remember hearing about how he mashed in the minors and I couldn't wait for him to reach the bigs. I remember looking up his stats in the Sporting News as a kid and getting his future star cards from Donruss.

I always like Daryl Hamilton and I can't quite place what he has been up to. Some part of my brain thinks he was on TV as an announcer of some sorts in the past few years but I can't remember.

Fitting that my first post would be Mike Birkbeck related...

Mike is the current Associate Head Coach of baseball at Kent State:

MattKain

Why is fitting that a Mike Birkbeck post be your first?

I also liked Mark Knudson....an opening day pitcher for the Brewers one season.

Whoever started this thread, nice one. I'm not the most internet savvy person in the world so I wouldn't know how to find out most of this stuff. Its kind of interesting reading "where are they now" pieces.

Glenn Braggs is my new hero!!!!! hahaha

Hamilton was one of my favorites as well. I talked to him for quite a while at spring training in 92. Very nice guy. You are correct about the TV part, he works for MLBTV.

I was surprised to read about Listasch. Pretty impressive for someone who is still relatively young.

Any more info you guys can post would be cool.

Does anybody know where Matt Kinney is now? I still need to get him to autograph a copy of Stephen King's "Nightmares and Dreamscapes." A 12 year old Mr. Kinney is actually a featured character in one of the stories in that book. If I recall correctly King writes about Kinney looking at a breast exam ad in a magazine with his little league teamates.

2HoopHead beat me to it. I always wondered what happened to Joey Meyer. My brother was convinced(and probably still is) that he was going to be a force to be reckoned with and a cornerstone for the Brewers to build around. He still has a few of these Topps Future Star cards:

Great thread!!!

When I lived in Florida, I noticed an announcement that Sid Roberson had joined a financial planning firm in Ponte Vedra Beach. That was about 5 years ago. It was the same diminutive lefty from the 1995 team, and a teammate of Iggy.
