Who was the biggest pickup for the Brewers this year?

nate82

I'm going to have to say it was Jason Kendall. Not much is going to be expected of him and I'm guessing not that many people are going to agree with me. But here is the reason why Kendall will be the most valuable pickup this year he will improve the back end of the lineup. The first five in the lineup is pretty much set in stone. What Kendall brings to the Brewers is a player who can hit 8th and take the counts deep. That is what the Brewers were really missing in 07 also they had a catcher who would swing away at the first strike and make a very unproductive out the majority of the time.

To me swinging and getting out on the first pitch is worse than whiffing on three straight pitches. At least with the whiffing on three straight pitches you are increasing the pitchers pitch count. This is where Kendall is extremely valuable to the Brewers. In the late innings when you have a reliever in and they are laboring and need to get out of the inning Kendall will stick around and work the count. This right here is more valuable than any signing the Brewers did this off season. Kendall filled the gaping whole in our offense that we were missing.
