Small LCD monitors

fstorm1
Here's my situation: in our living room, I have a computer tower hidden in an entertainment center. It is used exclusively for music. I've been looking for a small LCD monitor, flat panel, that will fit inside the same area as the tower so that when I want to listen to tunes, I can just "slide" out the monitor (I'll construct a simple shelf myself), fire up the unit and there I go. The problem is, the smallest monitors I've found with VGA hookup aren't small enough (typically 15" or so). I'm looking for something small, maybe in the 7"-9" size. Those in that size I've found, typically, are automobile monitors, and don't have a VGA hookup. Tried Best Buy (sorry jason), and the guy I spoke with had no idea where to find one, recommended their auto department (of course), and also newegg, which I've tried. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks, gents, I should also have mentioned that I checked eBay and although I've used it many, many times lo these long years, buying anything electrical via that route makes me uneasy. I'm quite certain that there are many here who have done that, and had zero bad experiences, but it still makes me nervous.

Although it finally occurred to me that this was also a way to find out manufacturers' of said devices (Lilliput, etc). Duh. So again, thanks.

Wondered, though, why it is that smaller LCD's cost just as much as if not more than some larger units? Is it difficult to squish the technology down?

You should be able to get a hookup that goes from any normal video card out into a normal vga (yellow cord, right?) hookup.

The biggest question is, what type of output does your video card on the computer have? Just the standard vga? S-video?

Edit:

Found this page which explains what you'd need pretty well.

Take a look

And what you'd probably need to buy

My card has an S-Video output. I was dumb enough to try and hook it directly to my standard non LCD TV, and the picture she no work so good. Shopping around for HDTV's and such right now, but that TV will be in our theater room, not the living room. Gonna poke around and see what I can find at the site you listed. A thousand thanks.
