Brewers not on board with Take Back Miller Park

ecjimg
Apparently, the Brewers ticket sales people aren't on board with the "Take Back Miller Park" initiative that has been talked about the past few years. As we all know, there have been a majority of Cub fans in the stands at Miller park when the Brewers play the Cubs. Last season there was a running dialog on what we as fans and the brewers as an organization can do to reverse the trend. Well, Ive noticed that the Brewers didn't include the Cubs game on Thursday July 31 as part of the Business Special 20 game ticket package (the most logical choice for a weekday afternoon game). There are 4 20 game packages to chose from, totalling 80 games. And that of course leaves one "81st" game that isnt in any 20 game package. Why would they leave this game out? It doesnt make the business special even with the other 20 game packages in Cub games or "Marquee" match ups. Is it because they WANT extra revenue from our southern rivals. I wonder how 20 game packages are sold each year, and how many of those people will add this game separately.

The 81st game would be one that would sell well on its own, obviously. They want to maximize tickets sold and revenue, that's what they are in business to do.

Cubs/Cards games in SL are always 50/50 as well. Expecting anything else in Milwaukee is foolhardy. Take the money and run.

That is income that helps the Brewers can use to help the team keep some of the home grown talent in town. Love to see the sellouts no matter who is in the seats since the Brewers need to keep making money so we dont get rid of every player they grow.

Also, let's be honest. This year is going to be a lot different for Wisconsinites and their affinity for the Brew Crew. Up until last year, the Fair Weather Fan couldn't remember the last lineup that produced a non-losing record. Now...I walk around Green Bay and see more Brewer hats than Packer hats. It is no longer taboo to approach a stranger in a bar wearing a Brewer shirt and strike up a convo about their favorite Brewer or a random game experience. Last year, Wisconsin needed to take Back Miller PRIDE. I think they succeeded on all fronts.

It wouldn't matter whether a game were included with a package or not. This is the internet age. People buy "ticket packages" often with the intent of reselling some of those tickets at a premium online. Heck there were plenty of Giant fans at Lambeau Sunday. A Packer season ticket holder could practically finance his entire season by selling a playoff game at triple the face value. It happens all over.

I've said it ever since the "Take Back Miller Park" initiative started.

If Joe Brewerfan (.net) will go to X number of Brewers games every year, would the front office rather have that fan go to:

(1) The games in which they're crowding out other fans (ie, Cubs games that will sell out regardless of whether this class of fan attends); or

(2) The games against teams that don't have nearly as much of a traveling draw as the Cubs do.

Heck, the whole point in having a 'premium' tier of ticket prices is to incentivize attendance at the other games. (If the Brewers thought it would raise revenue, all games would be priced at the premium value.) Every time a Brewers fan chooses a non-marquee game over a Brewers-Cubs game, they are adding to their full season attendance.
