AT&T vs. Time Warner

jaybird2001wi
I still live with my parents and my dad has been debating forever on switching from Time Warner to AT&T for both cable and internet service. What are the pros and cons to AT&T, and do they offer better service and a much better digital package? My parents new digital cable box from Time Warner runs very slow and it takes forever for the channels to change. Does AT&T's internet service run faster than Time Warner?

U Verse is aight. Problems are..

4 SD Streams total period.

1 HD Stream total period. (Supposed to double both Q2 08)

1 DVR only (Q1 All Room DVR)

HD Quality is HD Lite. It's alright, not the greatest. Supposed to be rolling out new version of encoders and supposed to improve quality. U-Verse to me is a work in progress, they have some limitations but might end up being one of the better content providers.

As far as DSL bundles, it's only like 4 meg down, but has a full meg up. No major complaints except that it requires the uverse firewall, and the firewall had some issues (Cisco VPN and GRE packets being dropped for one).

Another problem with U-Verse. Still relatively new so it still has bugs and kinks to work out and such. Sometimes the picture just freezes and the internet goes out for no reason. When this happens you have to reset the main box and wait for it to re-boot.

I have question as well about the two of these, the HD package for U-verse is essentially 4x that of TW. Does anyone know when TW plans to make more HD channels available? I know there are tons of channels that broadcast in HD, but for whatever reason, TW has yet to pick them up?

This is nothing compared to all the problems I have had with Comcast. I finally just gave up and canceled their internet service and will switch to U-Verse for TV in a heartbeat when it becomes available in my area. The HD channels, bigten network, and the fact that you get more for about half the price makes it a no brainier over Comcast for me.
