Let's get Charter to add FSN HD in Madison!

brewerfan82

With the announcement that the majority of the Brewers home games will be broadcast in HD, I'm even more disappointed that Charter doesn't provide FSN HD in their HD package here in Madison.

Last year, I sent Charter an email requesting information on adding FSN HD and they replied with this:

Since your local Charter office has control over exactly which channels are added to your local lineup, the best method to request channels in your area is for you (and any other existing or potential Charter subscribers you know who are also interested in getting FSN HD!) to send a 3" x 5" card into your local Charter office to make them aware of the demand for FSN HD to be added to your local lineup in this upcoming channel update! Here is the address of your local Charter office:

Charter Communications

2701 Daniels St

Madison, WI 53718

You can also submit a channel request online:

Hopefully with the amount of games being broadcast in HD this upcoming season, there will be enough interest generated for Charter to add the channel. So take a couple minutes out of your time and send a request if you're interested!

Thanks!

Charter is pretty much tapped in terms of space for "HD"(in quotes due to Charter not really have HD). I highly doubt they would add a fringe channel like FSN, just the same as the wont add BTN in HD.

I'm not in the Madison market anymore, but I'm curious to hear what you mean about charter "not really having HD." In my local market, they've just recently added both the local Fox and NBC stations to their HD offerings. They have all the local channels (that are / will be broadcast in HD), as well as a package of a few other HD channels (which I don't pay for....another chance to plug QAM tuners to all HDTV buyers). I can't imagine that a larger market would be treated that much differently. Is this a commentary on 1080i/720p instead of 1080p, Cable networks compressing HD signals....or something else entirely?

I have to admit: FSN HD during Brewers season might actually be enough for me to consider paying for HD Cable service.

Charter compresses its signals and then has the box decompress the HD signal to about 50% if not less to what a true HD signal should be. The same can be said about they're "digital". The transmit the signal analog and then up convert the signal when it gets to the box.

That may be true, but my "HD" channels through Charter still look very impressive and are a huge upgrade from the non-HD channels. I know Charter is still shuffling channels around to make room for more HD content and I really hope there's enough support locally for FSN HD to be one of the channels added in the near future.

I am just curious when and where this announcement was made. If true, I am extremely ecstatic about it being that I have been waiting for this development for some time. Any links backing this up as I can't seem to find anything anywhere.

Well it appears that Madison will be getting two more HD channels on March 25. The problem, non of them are fsn-hd. They are adding discovery hd and tlc hd. I don't mind discovery hd, but TLC? Why can't this be fsn-hd? Why?

Let's all go over to Charter's office in Madison and "ask" them to add FSN's HD feed.

Buy some beer and make an afternoon of it.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
