Questions for Ryan Braun?

While Ryan's Brevard County numbers were solid in 2006, his Manatee numbers paled in comparison to the huge numbers he posted at Huntsville (a similar pitchers' park and league)and in the AFL.

What worked for him at AA? Was it particular instruction from AA hitting coach Sandy Guerrero, or did something else just "click"?

How would Ryan describe himself as a hitter (what pitches does he handle best, lay off at the proper time, etc.)?

Has it been hard to avoid being too anxious about getting to Milwaukee, given the incredible success fellow draftee Ryan Zimmerman has had in Washington?

Is he looking forward to facing Royals pitcher Ryan Braun someday?

Thanks for soliciting our questions.

What are your goals for the minor league season?

What's one thing you really want to improve upon?

How is it adjusting to moving around the country playing ball? Helena to West Virginia, Brevard Co. to Huntsville. Obviously you continued to swing a hot bat, but does it take some time to feel comfortable playing in one area?

How about what he believes his ETA is for his ML debut? Or, perhaps, how his adjustment from shortstop to 3B have gone and if he foresees another change, probably to left field, in the near future? Finally, what is the penultimate moment that, thus far, has defined his minor league career?

AJHawk50,

Nice signature! But I thought we weren't allowed to do those. Anybody help out here? Otherwise, I'll make one for myself.

They aren't allowed. Per the BF.net FAQ, found at p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...=576.topic

What am I allowed to have in my signature?

Ideally, signatures should not be longer than your posts, nor should they distract from the content of your post. A good rule of thumb is that if your signature is longer than 3 lines (including paragraph breaks), it may be distracting. It also is easier on the eyes if your signature is written in italics, separated by a dashed line or a hard return) so it is easy to distinguish where your post ends and your signature starts. Images should not be used in signatures. Language used to condescend or talk down to other users should not be used either. If you have a personal site or blog, feel free to advertise it in your signature, but try and keep it tasteful.

Thanks for the opportunity Adam.

I would ask him what he thinks of the Brewers organization as a whole based on his conversations with friends/former teammates that are playing in different organizations. How do some of the Brewers philosophies differ?

Also, what are some of the statistical requirements that he much reach before being promoted to the next level, such as drawing a certain number of walks per plate appearance and so forth?

I can't think of too many at the moment, but I've got a couple.

There has been quite a bit of talk about his defense at third. I'd be curious to hear how he feels he is doing defensively.

Is there anything about professional baseball that has surprised him? Either on the field or off?

Good luck with your interview!

Chris

Thanks. I'm new so I don't know if we can have them or not. I'll remove it if have to.

I'd ask him this.

Ryan, the two greatest Brewers of all time, Robin Yount and Paul Molitor, each spent less than one full season in the minor leagues. As the number 5 overall pick from one of the top collegiate programs in the country who now has spent a year and a half plus a fall in the minor leagues, is there any reason you don't think you should be the Brewer 3rd baseman on opening day 2007?

I'm just curious, and I don't want to steer this thread in a different direction, but would you ask that just for kicks, or do you believe there is a connection between the three? Throwing out a couple of Hall of Famers like that would make me blush.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey everyone. I ended up missing Ryan at the AFL. I was only there for two full days and my hotel didn't have internet, so anytime I wanted to research, I had to go to Starbucks.

I've bookmarked this page and I'm going to try to arrange an interview with Ryan. Looks like you have a great list of questions going...I'll keep you updated.

Hah, your low-rent enterprise isn't putting you in a position to succeed.

But when you get a few minutes to catch up with the sock puppet you named "Ryan Braun," I'd be curious to know what he thinks about potentially playing the outfield, a story about the biggest clubhouse prankster he's ever played with, his predictions for both his first year on the All-Star team and his total number of All-Star appearances, what he thinks he can bring to a major league clubhouse, and when the Brewers will break their playoff drought.

Thanks for asking.
