Bucks trade?

if they would take bobby simmons' and dan gadzuric's contracts in return it wouldnt be terrible but i have a feeling this might be a max contract for max contract type of deal as the bucks arent sure they can win with Redd. His name has been floating around recently and a redd for randolph trade would be brutal

How many power forwards does this team need? That's what Randolph is. When I lived in Portland, the guy had attitude issues (not as bad as some), but come on! If the Knicks want to dump a guy, you know he's bad. Granted, this team needs to be blown up, but get rid of some of the "dead weight" (Simmons, Mo Williams, etc.) for some younger higher energy guys. Or at least a pass first point guard.

I think Harris is 2nd worst GM because he works for the 2nd worst owner in the NBA (worst being the owner of the Clippers).

I would deal Redd in a heartbeat. We are going nowhere with him as our best player. Look how good we play when he is not in the lineup. Not sure where Randolph fits on this team but the guy is a beast when he wants to be. Simmoms and/or Charlie V would have to also be dealt to make it work. Gadz should just be cut.

Think they would get more for Redd than Randolph. As has been posted this team has enough 4s on the team and one more is just going to put more weight on the bench.

Simmons and Charlie Vill for Randolph is good move for Bucks.

Do the Bucks really have that many true 4s? I know the game has changed a bit, but Randolph would possess the best rebounding ability on the team IMO. I know the games aren't played on paper, but I'd prefer a lineup of Williams, Redd, Yi, Randolph, and Bogut to anything we've been using all year. CV has been a huge disappointment.

I think Harris is way worse than McHale but he isnt in Isiah Thomas's league. KNowing Isiah we could probably trade Michale Ruffin and Danny G for Randolph. Both teams are desperate so there bound to do something stupid. That being said where the heck would he fit?

I think he brings a lot more toughness down low than anyone else we have. I'm not going to sit here and debate his character, but on pure talent he's an all-star or close to it. I think where he fits depends on what we'd trade. I would not trade Redd straight up for him or include Redd at all. Any deal has to include CV, Simmons, and/or Gadzuric. That would open up some spots.

There are restrictions on those who signed contracts this past off-season. I believe they cannot be traded until February (ie Williams, Mason, Bell).

There's no way he's worse than McHale. With all the crap Harris has to put up with from Kohl and his lawyers I'm shocked we've been able to make the playoffs. It's time for Kohl to sell.

Id like to Keep Charlie V. I think we could get Nate Robinson from NYK included in the deal. The Salaries match - which in the NBA is a must.

A Starting Lineup of

c- Randolph

pf - Bogut

sf - Yi

sg - mo williams

pg - royal ivy

That is really darn tough.

Then Charlie V comes off the bench and can back up both F positions and Bobby Simmons is more D off the bench. Nate Robinson is nice energy off the bench.

From Wikipedia:

Randolph's tenure has been somewhat controversial, in part due to the Trail Blazers' past history with players having off-the-court issues. He was cited for underage drinking the summer after his rookie year while back home in Marion and had to pay an undisclosed fine. He punched teammate Ruben Patterson in the face during a practice scuffle in 2003, an act which earned him a two-game suspension.[1] On June 8, 2006, Randolph ran into further legal trouble when two vehicles, both registered in his name, were pulled over by the Portland Police for racing in a 20 mph speed zone.[2] In August 2006, a sexual assault complaint was filed with Portland police over an incident with a stripper; after a month-long investigation, the Multnomah County district attorney declined to prosecute Randolph, citing lack of evidence.[3] Randolph is facing a civil suit related to that case.

In March 2007, Randolph was spotted at a strip club after not playing in a game against the Washington Wizards. He had been granted bereavement leave to mourn the death of his girlfriend's cousin a day earlier.

Here's the full account of the sexual assault case: http://www.oregonlive.com/pdfs/blazers/zach_memo092006.pdf

I already hate the NBA, but if this trade goes through, the Bucks are dead to me.

JJhardy has a point that this team really doesn't have a physical 4. Yi can play the O end, but has faded some. CV really is a 3. If Randolp comes in and Yi can be back up the 3 and 4 his minutes would be similar and the front line gets much more physical. If the trade is Danny G and Simmons...I'd be pleased. Then the drive for the #8 seed can start!!!

Hey now, maybe that is how he morns...don't knock other families traditions! As far as punching Ruben...dude is tough to be able to pull that off, and I suspect Ruben might have had it coming.

I'm willing to look past the strip club "mourning" and the Patterson fight, but having sex with an incoherent stripper who is shaking her head "no" is where I draw the line.

Randolph does have character issues, but there is no denying his talent. If it's Simmons and Gads for Randolph that will automatically be listed in the top 10 moves of 2008 -- for the Bucks. I think the Bucks are probably more willing to do this now than they have in the past (see Ruben Patterson and Anthony Mason as examples). I think the Bucks have to make a move to make a push this year and compete -- getting Randolph without giving up Redd does this. Or...

Completely break up this team. Pick a handful to remain on the team and the rest can go elsewhere.

Yeah he's a great rebounder but the 4 years $61 million on his contract is gross, he's a selfish player (if the ball goes into him it's not coming back out) he shoots a low percentage, he plays no defense, he's fat and out of shape. Just pass on this guy and let the Knicks deal with him.

This would be a horrible move. Randolph is a low effort player who squanders his talent, I don't see getting traded to a non-contender upping his desire to play hard. If they are going to blow up the team, trade for youth and picks instead of letting other teams out of their mistakes.

If that's "all" it takes for you to stop supporting a NBA team, then I'm surprised you didn't stop backing the Bucks last year when they employed Ruben Patterson, another sexual predator.

Just to be clear the "all it takes" was definitely facetious.

Aside from that though, I just hope the Bucks can for once sit still and NOT make a trade. Let's just see how this team develops. Are they going to be NBA Champions as they're currently assembled? Very unlikely. But it's also not going to turn them into the Bulls of the 90's if they make a knee jerk trade here.

Look at our lineup and just think what COULD be. Bogut-23, Mo-24, Yi-20,CV-23. Even guys like Noel and Sessions are still very young(23,21).

So lets live or die for a single friggin year with this group, leave them alone, see what they can do. I mean, Yi looks like he has a ton of potential. He really looks like he could become not only a good player, but a great player. Bogut absolutely has a lot of physical ability, he's tough, and he doesn't always play like it. Let's wait and see if he can decide to be more aggressive and assertive on a regular basis. If Mo(who's been playing fantastic as of late) can be that poor man's Chris Paul(which again, he has looked like).

And if you're not going to do that, just dump salary. Take Simmons and Redd and ship them off to the Lakers for Kwame Brown and whoever else they've got that has a expiring deal, fine. If you want to grab Corey Maggette and Sam Cassell for Michael Redd and Danny G, then fine. Just keep those younger players together for a couple years. Let them see if they can become a good team.

Personally, I think Yi may just be that leading man to Redd and Bogut that could potentially one day make us a great team much like Dirk did with the Mavs and Michael Finley, but I don't think we'll ever get to find out.

I also think Larry Harris has done some very interesting things as a GM. I thought he'd done a great job. Now the results aren't there, so that's an impossible argument to make, but I like the players on this team if you can separate them as individual talents. So lets give them some time to see if they can mesh together and become a good team.

All joking aside, Gopher makes a good point. However, Lary might not have his position long enough to let this team jell. This team does lack a traditional PF. Not sure if Zack really is the way to go, but one is needed.

If I had to choose one guy who had character marks to bring to my team, id take Ron Artest 8 days a week.

Artest and Shareef Abdur Rahim for Mike Redd?

Or even better - Charlie V for Ron Artest (salaries work) and then Mike Redd for Randolph?

Looking at the source of this rumor I'm beginning to think this is just speculation. Especially considering what the author says about Milwaukee. I don't think it'd be horrible move on paper if we give up some of the bad contracts on this team, but I don't see that happening. It would be nice to get rid of Gadzuric's contract though.
