AARRRGGGHHH!!!

I knew it was going to happen, I was just holding out some hope he would make it through the end of the series.

My wife was so devastated when he died, she wanted to stop watching the show for good. I know they had to kill him off in order to fit their ethos, but this is the first time I've felt this bad about a fictional character dying. He was a great character.

just finished 9 myself. This is the best thing television has ever produced, but who can keep getting emotionally drained like this week after week? I just end up yelling at the screen . . .

"Turn around Duquan! TURN AROUND DAMNIT!!"

Finally, Bunny. Good news is we still haven't seen Prez. Hope springs. Before they beat it out of you with a lead pipe.

I finished 8 last night. Hard to see it ending any other way for Omar, but still that was a gut punch. I think the newspaper storyline is the weakest part of the season, perhaps the series, but overall that was an eventful and powerful episode. If the final two are up to that it's going to be a great finish.

"You look good, girl."

My favorite scene of the entire series, probably. I would have been really bummed had that turned out the other way. When this went down, I yelled "yeah!".

Good news is we still haven't seen Prez.

Did you see the preview for the finale? He's rocking a Jim Morrison beard these days.

As far as Omar, I think it was crazy that he made it as long as he did. The superhero he became in the last couple seasons was kind of turning me off from the show, it was pretty silly.

I guess all good things do come to an end. As for the episode, it felt like not much happened even though a lot happened, if that makes any sense. There were some enjoyable scenes and quotes, and I liked seeing what they did with all the characters in the end. Of course, as would be expected from this show it was nice to see how some turned out while it was a bummer for others.

Seems kind of unfair to lose Brett Favre and The Wire all in the same week.

Sad to see The Wire go, but they went out as well as any show could. Quite simply an amazing run, and they did a nice job avoiding the surprise/dramatic ending (as they've always done) while tieing up a few loose ends.

Bubbles making it upstairs was my favorite ending.

The ending worked for me even if it was just the status quo reasserting itself. Then again, the theme of The Wire is how engrained failing institutions are, not "we can change the world".

I think it was just right.

The only thing that changes are the names, and that's been the prevailing moral of the story all along. Dukie becomes Bubbs, Sydnor the new McNulty, Michael as a stick up guy (my favorite by far), Marlo headed down Stringer's path, Chris and Wee-Bey hitting it off, etc.

I was pleasantly surprised to see it end so well for McNulty, though. I didn't think he would get killed off, but I at least thought his relationship would be ruined or he'd wind up in jail.

Soft spoken Slim Charles (his character was one of my favorites) getting Prop Joe's revenge was my favorite moment in the last episode.

I really expected to see Marlo walking in and shooting Michael when he was wielding that shotgun.
