Favorite Baseball Movie

JET15

"The Natural" is on TCM tonight. I'm not promoting it. The story is okay, but I don't much care for the casting. I think they could have done better with a lead actor than Redford. I suppose that could be a thread in itself but what's your favorite baseball movie?

I love "Baseball: A Film by Ken Burns". I own it and have watched it multiple times. The wife and kids all appreciate the game more for it. And it's entertaining. What more could you ask for?

Oh, another tangent. Do NOT get suckered into watching "For the Love of the Game". Chick flick. Wife tried to sell me on the baseball aspect. I was duped. Nuf said.

The Natural lost me when the supposed greatest player of all time has a catch with the son he just met and the kid throws like a girl.

I get choked up every time I watch the end of Field of Dreams.

That's a given. Especially since my dad died. I know certain parts are coming in that movie, but I shed a tear every time. I guess that could be another thread, films that choke you up.

Anyone who doesn't answer Field of Dreams should be immediately banned.

I agree. I too get chocked up every time I watch that movie.

There are so many baseball movies that I just love.

Pride of the Yankees, Eight Men Out, The Sandlot, For Love of the game, Major League

I didn't care for The Natural or Fever Pitch

Just because Field of Dreams chokes me up doesn't make it the best. I still say Angels in the Outfield takes the cake.

I wouldn't go that far, but I will say that anyone who DOES answer "The Fan" (Snipes + DeNiro) should be immediately banned. The worst part was the scene in the end where it looked like they were playing in the middle of a hurricane and the only light in the stadium was a 60-watt bulb. Ditto for the football scene in the beginning of "Last Boyscout".

It's not THAT dark on the field guys, yeesh....those directors should maybe attend a professional sporting event sometime.

another bad baseball movie was "pitcher and the pin-up" or something like that.... snooze-fest, only draw was a former playboy pet of the year with the lead female role.

My favs are Bull Durham, the original Bad News Bears, and Major League.

I happen to really like "For Love Of The Game" myself, the part where he throws the no hitter chokes me up every time I watch it.

The Natural was a so-so movie for me, I keep thinking I am missing something as so many love it that I talk to, but everytime I see it, I am not that impressed. I agree, Redford should not have had the lead, he was too old for that part in my opinion.

Field of Dreams is a great movie, but a little over-rated if you ask me. Not that I don't love it every time I see it, but it doesn'tt make me go ga-ga like so many others.

Loved the original Bad News Bears, to me, that is an absolute classic! As a kid when that came out, I was in love with Tatum O'Neil. The remake, though it had it's moments, can not stack up to the original.

Major League is just plain brilliant.

Bull Durham is also excellent, so many memorable lines in that one... Just a great movie!
