What would it take to get Clement?

http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifI am sure this has been discussed somewhere, but not sure where

mlbtraderumors is talking about "young" pitchers that the Mariners are targeting and Capuano was on the list (young?).

What would it take to get Clement from the M's? Would Cappy + Z Jack be a starting point or would the M's want a top tier prospect?

Clement is untouchable, unless you want to trade Sheets or any one of the big 5 (Fielder, Braun, Weeks, Hart, Hardy). The only way I see it happening with other prospects is LaPorta, and I doubt that would work because teams rarely to never trade a big prospect for a big prospect

I don't think he's "untouchable". In fact, I could see the M's actually looking to move him in the short term with Johjima locking down the catching duties for the time being, and the M's thinking they're in a race.

It would have to be a blockbuster, but if the Brewers were to really get creative, you could swing a Sheets, Hall, Escobar, Gamel/Gillispie/Cain type deal tot he M's for Morrow, Beltre, Clement and maybe Ibanez. That'd be a hard deal to turn down. You take a big hit at the top of the rotation, and that's why this is an internet discussion and not a likely scenario, but you get your future Catcher, a good looking young pitcher to go with the 3 you have at the moment, an upgrade in Ibanez and you get your 3rd basemen.

Overall, in the short term and in the long run, I think the Milwaukee Brewers come out as a better team.

I know if I were in Seattle's position, I wouldn't take anything that didn't include Gallardo, Braun, or Hart. And honestly, if he can continue his hitting, he might be worth exploring. 2008 will be an important year for him.
