It is never too early...

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure, it may be a little too early http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.

Welcome aboard edmurray, I'm assuming you're an Os fan, and if so, I'm guessing you're also preparing yourself for what could be another long year. And that's ok, I've felt the Orioles have needed to strip down for years now instead of pretending that they were a player or two away from contention.

A top 5 is a little tough to project at this point in time because I don't think there are any clear-cut favorites.

Robert Stock, C/RHP of USC, will likely be talked about quite a bit between now and the '09 draft, as will his teammate SS/3B Grant Green.

Missouri RHPs Kyle Gibson (Missouri), Ryan Berry (Rice) and Sean Black (Seton Hall) along with LHPs Mike Minor (Vanderbilt) and Gavin Brooks (UCLA) will be among the best pitchers available.

OF Gabe Cohen (UCLA) has big-time power while 1B Dustin Ackley (UNC) has one of the prettiest swings you'll find. OF/LHP Aaron Miller (Baylor) could also factor into the top players taken.

The prep class as always will be more fluid. There could be a strong catching class with Austin Maddox and Michael Zunino of Florida and Max Stassi of California all among some of the top prospects at this point in time. Pitchers include Matthew Graham (TX), Keyvius Sampson (FL) and Chris Jenkins (NJ) with SS Mike Givens (FL) and OFs Donovan Tate (GA) and Jake Morris (TX) representing a few of the nation's better bats for '09.

Hi Colby,

Great job as usual with the minors & the draft. Can you project the Top 3 in the 2008 Draft, sorry if its posted elsewhere. Thanx!!

Go BREW, I'm down with concentrating on pitching in this draft, if you can hit on 2-3 that can make to the majors, thats HUGE for us small market folks http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  • 3 weeks later...

Colby-Austin Maddox is an 09 I didn't think he was elgible for the draft but he is a stud got to see him down in Ft. MEyers at the National Underclass! And I also got to see Kosert throw a 101 from right field the ball was laughing at me as it went by my head!

edit-sorry didn't see the 2009 draft talk in the first post:) My bad, but Austin is still a stud and will be a stud to come

2011 #1 rated player will be a kid by the name of Dakota Smith...90-91 with good feel for CB
