brettac let me know once you listen to it what you think of it. I was thinking of getting it this week as well. They didn't have it at best buy so i was going to get it on itunes. Righ tnow i am listening to Mark Ronson's Version album. I really like it. Probably one of the 5 best of 07 for me.

I kept reading this thread and like some others I haven't used my CD player in years. Today I dig it out of the basement, plug it in, and find 5 I've been looking for! Idiot.

Really missed this one.

I admit I am somewhat of a lurker, but Brett I am convinced you are my musical brother, I love everything that you have put on any music thread over time, and the one I had never heard of was the Scud Mtn Boys and I will get that next time I hit criminal records. Nothing more, just wanted to say keep the good suggestions coming.

Scud Mountain Boys was the band Joe Pernice fronted before he started The Pernice Brothers. If you haven't heard them, I highly recommend picking up this album, "Overcome By Happiness":

Great, great stuff. I saw some article where "Chicken Wire" was named the most exquisitely sad song of all-time. So, if that piques your interests, check it.

Awesome, gyp. Thanks for the heads up. I got the members e-mail but I wasn't interested in the names in the title, so I just deleted it. Though I am intrigued by the Malkmus/Vanderslice bill, that could be a great show. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to see the DBT's at The Riverside in Feb.

I gotta go see the Avetts, though.

Finally, the best record that came out in 2007 that almost no one is paying attention to. A prime candidate for most "wow, this was really good" mentions in 2008 and 2009.

Earlimart: "Mentor Tormentor"

I would die to make an album with Ariana Murray, and I would hope Aaron Espinoza would produce it.
