Bhutto Assassinated

When I saw this this morning, I was so thankful for the country we live in. We may disagree, but you don't see people trying to kill people they disagree with in this manner. My condolences to her family, and the country of Pakistan. I hope this does not create more difficulties for them, but somehow, I don't see anything else coming of this.

I have to toss what some may view as melodrama in here. Personally, I think this is a very dire day. This assassination will not be forgotten for a very long time. Bhutto was a key cog to stability in this region and even beyond....Globally, this assassination has an enormous impact.

On the 15th of December the Pakistan Constitution was restored. I'm sure this will be used to justify the original suspension ala "Look what happened since I restored Constitutional Power". or something of the sort.

That or maybe I read to much Chomsky.

We're just better at keeping it private...

What do you mean by that?

Conspiracy theories are often very plausible. Some have to be true.

Just one of the many sites on the Clintons I found with a quick search: http://www.jeremiahproject.com/prophecy/clintbodycnt.html

Just saying.

But yes, at least no presidential candidates drop dead, knock on wood.

In before the lock.

I don't understand why some people can't keep their political beliefs quiet around here.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

C'mon guys, I'm not saying there true, just saying its plausible, hence the bold font for emphasis. I linked to the first page I found. (And the first politician I thought of. Didn't mean to be any type of political statement.)

(FWIW, I do believe Big Foot is extremely plausible.)

Anyway - back to Pakistan and facts...

Well you could have pointed to instances like RFK (1968) -- Harvey Milk (1978) -- Tommy Burks (1998) and others I am sure I am forgetting. You don't have to sink to conspiracy theories to show that people get killed for their beliefs even in this country.

FWIW, I do believe Big Foot is extremely plausible

Obviously you have encountered my mother in law and her legion of unmarried sisters.

Maybe Bigfoot killed Bhutto?

I tend to get a little touchy on the 'Bill Clinton is a criminal" stuff. Sorry.

As far as Pakistan, you can see why the military takes over from time-to-time. The hard spot here (from the US perspective) is that we put our chips (like #11 Billions dollars worth) behind Musharraf and he might not be the most popular guy in town anymore.

I watched Gandhi last night and saw how they 'created' Pakistan. Basically, they took the Indian empire and split it in two - all the muslims went one way and all the hindus went the other way. Gandhi wanted to keep it one big nation. In fact, he was assassinated by Hindu extremists who disagreed with his pro Muslim attitude. I wonder what the world would be like had Gandhi gotten his wish?

The hands of anyone in power is probably not clean.. wait.. isn't clean as power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I'm just concerned about political instability in a nuclear armed state, the person who assassinated Bhutto probably wanted to strike a blow for "democracy" but really entrenched her followers belief. Looks what happens when anyone in power gets killed, people will grasp on to any semblance of stability and power.

I'm not sure how this will flow into India and increase tensions between the two. But really this could quickly destabilize the entire region.
