Morning person v. Night person

jaybird2001wi

I'm definitely a night person. That probably comes from staying up late to do homework and working a second shift job for a while.

Plus I hate the feeling of being really tired by 6 or 7pm when I have things to do or I don't feel like doing anything because I am tired.

Total night person

Spent a good chunk of my years needing to be up early in the morning and hated waking up every single time. Besides accidently falling asleep, i can't remember the last time i purposely went to bed before 11 PM.

For whatever reason, my body/mind is used to small amounts of sleep, 4-5 hours most nights, sometimes less. On the rare times i get 7-8 hours of sleep, i feel more tired than if i got 5 hours. A few weeks ago i slept 10 hours and woke up Sunday feeling sapped of all energy, making something to eat felt like a major chore.

I am definitely a night owl (as most if not all owls are). I get up to teach at school every morning at 6:40 am but gosh darn it if I don't finally turn off that bedside lamp after 11 pm every night. And then Friday and Saturday nights I am up until at least 2 am playing video games or watching movies.

I'm sure once I have kids that I will cease and desist this practice for my own welfare.

As a longtime DJ, I only start to perk up around 9pm! Although I will echo the love for watching the sunrise, and also the ease of waking early when golf is involved.

I have managed to kill two birds with one stone in the past, by finishing a gig at 3am then coming home and grabbing the clubs to get on the course before anyone else!

I grew up on a dairy farm. On most days, it is rare if I sleep past 4:30 am. The kids, however, are now doing their best to either change my sleep habits or kill me. My daughter woke us up for her traditional christmas season projectile vomiting at 10.30 and 12.30 last night. My son is cutting teeth, so he was screaming between 2 and 4am. At any rate, I was still up by 6am to get ready for work. I haven't heard the chime of an alarm clock since college.

I'm glad there are other infomercial fans out there. My favorite was the Ronco food dehydrator. When I left a job around 9 years ago, a coworker made me his own version of a dehydrator out of a candle and an old record turntable as a parting gift.

This reminds me of my similar "performance" on Christmas morning 1968. Not that I remember it, but (based on the stories) my mother certainly does.

I'm able to survive on between 4-6 hours of sleep. So I'm usually up doing stuff until about midnight or a little later. Due to kids, I'm usually up around 5:30. While it's rough getting up at 5:30, once I'm up I'm good to go and fairly spry.

Same here -- I rarely am sleeping before 2 AM -- and am generally up with the kids at about 6:30. I have problems sleeping though.
