Boston Legal Fans?

TURBO

Love the show, LOVE IT, but I'm not digging on the new ugly british girl with the giant, beheamuth nose...

Denny Crane cracks me up every single week...

I watch, but mainly because my co-workers (and boss) love the show. To me, it's always a bit too over-the-top.

(It's almost like John Laroquette's character was brought into the show just to remind people how silly things are. I think it was last week's episode, where the whole point is how everyone else in the office has serious issues.)

Yeah, there are a couple of guys that I work with that rave about this show also. I have not watched it yet. I have a hard time watching a show for the first time that has been on for several years.

you have to watch the show and take it for what it's worth. It is over the top frequently, but that is the draw for me. Spader and Shatner are awesome together, I get an actual LOL each and every week.

I know it's just a television show, but I have caught it once or twice and I find Shatner's character so repulsive I can't stand to watch him!
That's an interesting post, because I have heard this before. Not just with this show but many others. I understand that you qualified your statement with "I know it's just a television show", but I think that having a strong antagonist in a show can make things a lot more interesting. Keep in mind, I have never watched Boston Legal. However, my favorite show of all time is and will always be Seinfeld. When it was on, there were 1 or 2 people I worked with that didn't get it. They said they watched it once or twice and it just seemed like a bunch of whiny, self-centered, NYers. To me, in a way, that is exactly why it was appealing. Kramer saying something like "Your pretty, you just need a nose job" or George being conflicted about how to feel regarding his fiance's death were things that a normal person would really cringe at or find offensive in real life. However, on a TV show, it's hilarious IMO.

A guy like Archie Bunker is not someone that you would normally want to associate with in real life, but on a TV sitcom, the things he says and the way he interacts with others is captivating. Same could be said with a guy like "House". I think of a lot of shows I like throughout the years. They all had "less then likable" characters on them, but they made the show that much more enjoyable to me....Carla on Cheers, Frank on M*A*S*H, Alex Keaton, Homer (let's face it, you would not to have a real life "Homer" in your family) , to name a few.

To me, shows where everyone is friendly and hospitable towards each other are kind of bland. The cynical, narcissistic personalities make shows interesting.

really great post, look at the Sopranos for example, almost every character on that show would be labeled a scumbag in real life, but for tv, it works.
