Does anyone at BF.net have this phone? If so, what are you opinions of it???

Thanks

The phone is really cool but I think that I am going to return it. Here are my complaints with it so far: 1. You have to press a few buttons to even get to the touch key-pad. 2. Once you get to the key-pad, it is sometimes unresponsive to the touch and other times just dials the incorrect number. 3. Many times I have to press the "unlock" button 2 or 3 times to even get the keypad to unlock. 4. Using voicemail is also difficult. Once you get your voicemail dialed up, you have to press either the "CLR" or "SEND" button to get the screen to light up again, then press the unlock button on the screen to unlock the phone, then press the phone icon on the screen, and then dial in your password.

I normally love gadgets and new technology but its too much putzing around when you just want to be able to grab your phone and dial. There are A LOT of cool features with the phone but Id rather just have something that is easy/less time consuming to use. Its my own fault for getting the phone but it only cost me $53 to upgrade and I was enamored with the touch screen and gadgetry. I think I am going to go back to my EnV which was a really cool phone that still had a lot of bells and whistles(and a much better camera if that factors in to your decision.) I don't want to rain on your excitement but I wanted to give you my experience with it before you spend significant money. I think they allow you 30 days to make sure you like it, so get it and mess around a bit to see if its what you want. I'm curious to see what others think so please post your opinion after you get it and get a chance to play around with it.

Lazer-

Thanks a lot for the post. I actually have been to the verizon store multiple times to play with the phone. I have been waiting to get it since October but wasn't eligible for my upgrade until last Friday. I wasn't able to do things like access voicemail while in the store, but I got pretty familiar with the touchscreen.

Even if the voicemail is a pain, I think I'll be able to overlook that because I might get voicemails a few times a week, and I text message 10x more than I call people, (which is why the QWERTY keyboard is so appealing).

Finally, the camera isn't a huge deal (thanks for the opinion on that), but it cant be worse than my Razr. Plus, I wanted a basic navigation system for my car anyways, so this should eliminate the need for that. Finally, having ESPN MVP on that huge screen is going to be awesome.

I should be getting it tomorrow, and I'll let everyone know what I think.

Thanks again

  • 2 weeks later...

I finally got my phone on Dec 20th.

So far, I would say the phone exceeds my expectations and leaves very little to be desired. The following are the things I would fix/change if I had the power to do so, but most of these are all very minor and very nitpicky...

1-2. This is my only complaint about the phone: the contacts menu. with a normal phone, you can go into your contacts menu, type in a letter to jump to, and find your contact from there. with the touchscreen, you cant type in a letter, you have to pick a range of letters and the drag scroll the screen to find your contact. the more contacts you have, the bigger hassle it is...

in every phone i had, i put 5 people on the top of my contacts list (because i call them the most) by simply putting a (space) before their name. this puts them at thetop of the list before the "A's". In this phone, this puts the people at the bottom of the list, although there is a button you can press labeled with the # sign that brings you down to them. its one more click but somewhat annoying. on the other hand, 4 contacts are shown at once, and you can access any of them as opposed to non-touch-screen-phones that have 1 contact highlighted at a time. so that kind of makes up for it...

3. Have all of the menu options numbered, not just most of them. This would make navigating through some menus easier, particularly the "get it now" menu.

4. Allow the user to change ring style/volume from the side of the phone without unlocking the touchscreen. i understand locking the camera button but not the volume buttons.

Everything else about the phone is great. The features of the phone that I find incredible...

1. The GPS navigation system. i've only used it 5 or 6 times but its awesome.

2. The touch-screen gives me absolutely no problems. (sorry lazer)

3. The big screens, especially for ESPN MVP and the GPS

4. Texting is a breeze with the QWERTY keyboard

5. the camera is incredible. i know lazer said it wasn't as good as the enV, but its wayyy better than my old phone and better than any other phone i've ever seen.

6. Internet and email are great.

i haven't tried the music or tv yet (TV not yet available to milwaukee), but i will post again if i decide to try these...
