I'm not a real big believer in Dillon, nice story, but if he was really more than Brady Clark he would've been up a long time ago.

Except that he had a serious back injury that forced what was at that time his retirement. He got back to ball after being away for a year iirc, and seriously got back on track with the Brewers' minor-league system. Brady Clark dreams of being able to hit like Joe. Not a good comparison.

Good point TooLive. I was really just reffering to their age, and Dillon's probable inability to hold down a full time job for any length of time.

Dillon has shown a propensity to get on base all through his minor league career. And since he took 2003 off he has never had an OPS below 1.000 in the minors (he sucked in Japan but that's Japan and it was only 85 ABs). He can hit and is a great bench/spot starter player for the Brewers to have

Assuming Cameron comes on board, our lineup would likely be:

Weeks

Kendall

Braun

Fielder

Hart

Cameron

Hall

Hardy

P

Very solid lineup. Still too many Ks for my liking but good overall. Defensively we improve as well. Cameron is a top 5 CF. Hall is an upgrade over Braun at 3B and Braun should be serviceable in LF especially with Cameron next to him. I really hope we don't overpay Cameron because of the Yankees' supposed competition for him.

If this goes down, here's a few things we know.

1. Our defense is a ton better overall. Cameron >>> Hall in CF and Hall >>> Braun at 3B. The one question is about how good Braun will be in left field. Having Cameron in center will help with Braun's transition to left field. He gets a great jump, so Braun will probably hug the line a little bit.

2. Offensively, we replace Jenkins and Estrada with Cameron and Kendall. Looks like a lateral move on paper, but I think Cameron should put up better numbers in Miller Park than he did Petco.

So, the brewers are improving their defense while not losing much on offense. Exactly what Brewer fans wanted.

if it's true that it's a one year deal, I like it. It begs the question, what do we do next year? LaPorta in left, Hart in center, Braun in right??

LaPorta is not etched in stone yet. Sure, he's a big time power threat, but so was Joey Meyer.

Just because Braun came through the system and lit up ML pitching, doesn't mean that everyone will. I'm starting to think that LaPorta won't live up to these huge expectations.

Personally, I hope the Cameron deal is one year with a team option for the second. Just in case LaPorta struggles a bit this year.

And remember, alot of teams deal their top prospect to put them over the top. A deadline deal for a Tim Hudson type would have to have LaPorta in it.
