I guess the people who wanted Aquino gone are happy. He was probably going to be exposed to waivers sooner or later anyway, short of multiple injuries during spring training. However, I have to think the Brewers are going to add someone to the roster, either by trade or maybe just a free agent/non-tender pickup. Otherwise, there's no point in removing him from the 40 man roster at this point.

The Brewers have reportedly signed Luis Vizcaino to a 2 year, $7 million contract, according to the LoHud Yankees blog and Rotoworld.

The Brewers and Luis Vizcaino have reportedly agreed to terms on a two-year, $7 million contract.

So much for Ken Rosenthal's report that he was deciding between the Rockies and Pirates.
Rotoworld's got it, there is no confirmation yet from the team, but I won't lock the thread at this point.

While I still think Aquino could put up some good seasons somewhere, I thought it was odd for the Brewers to keep him around right now. With so many bullpen options at this point, it just seemed doubtful that Aquino would get a fair look this spring.

if its a non-tendered player i hope its prior. I know his 08 season is pretty much lost, but i still think he can help us down the line. I can't see claiming a reliever and there are any good leftfielders that weren't tendered. My guess is its a starter. Or there is a trade in the works, but i think that isn't likely cause i'd assume we give up more on our 40 than we'd take on.

That's awesome. I loved Luis back then, and he's still solid. Apparently, "bullpen" is Canadian for "depth" in 2008!

EDIT: I especially love it when you look at it as a 1-1 swap with Aquino. Monster upgrade by those terms.

Makes sense to me. Adding a guy that helped the Brewers a couple years back, and is still a solid pitcher. My only concern is that (of course) the Yankees pitched him to death last year, but he's proven to be durable. A nice pickup, in my opinion. If most of the bullpen stays healthy, it will clearly be one of the team's biggest strengths.

Luis frustrated me more then anything, he would come out and dominate and then the next time get his around. If his slider was on he was great, if it wasnt he was rocked. He is a work horse so that is good. Now that i think about it, he was Turnbow before Turnbow came.

This is probably about as good of a bullpen bargain as a team is going to get this winter, though it does leave the Brewers with a ridiculous six relievers making at least $3 million (Eric Gagne, David Riske, Derrick Turnbow, Guillermo Mora and Salomon Torres). Lefty specialist Brian Shouse figures to get the other spot, so pitchers like Claudio Vargas, Carlos Villanueva and Manny Parra won't be on the team if they fail to claim rotation spots.

Well -- Parra in Nashville makes a lot of sense -- I can't imagine we wouldn't have a guy like Vargas/Cappy/Bush in our BP for some LR/starter insurance.

So, as of now, with the assumption that Turnbow is to be dealt:

Aquino ---- Mota

Spurling ---- Torres

Wise ---- Vizcaino

McClung --- McClung

Shouse ---- Shouse

TBow ---- Riske

CoCo ---- Gagne

Aside from Cordero, who was apparently a given that we'd lose (Melvin couldn't really do more than he did), that's a really nice 2008 vs. 2007.
