I don't, never will...

when I have to care how many internet friends I have, that is when it is time to pull the plug...

If I were 16 I might think differently.

I have a myspace. it's basically a second email account for me.

a cousin of mine uses his to maintain work contacts.

The only reason I would open an account is to keep up with bands.

Oh, MySpace...

I CAN tell you that their entire operations is based around, well, advertising revenue. They'll do anything possible to chase the almighty dollar, and by doing so, they have left themselves wide open to what's happened with Facebook. Their alignment around the OpenSocial framework COULD pay huge dividends... provided MySpace actually figures out how to properly leverage it. They have a LONG way to go to figure out what it is they want to be and how they want to leverage their capabilities. And quite frankly, I'm not at all convinced that they have the wherewithal to be able to pull it off. Just because Fox Interactive Media (the tech/media division of News Corp) owns them does NOT mean that by default they will be able to stop the "bleeding" caused by Facebook.

Turborickey... actually, the average age of a MySpace user is 35. Surprising, I know.

it's a great tool for Human Resources to check on potential candidates. a lot of idiots will have a page open to the public and then talk about how much bud they smoked last night or something.

a coworker found her daughter's public page and all her blogs. she said it was a long conversation that night. ouch.

I have had a Myspace for a long time, but myself and most of my friends have migrated to Facebook.

Myspace is basically the same as it was three of four years ago...it's a very "clunky" bug ridden website. Most people have horrible pages, covered with pictures, videos, animated gifs, music playing, etc. Too much spam, junk messages, etc. I made my page private, and that helps cut down on the garbage you get, but it's still basically a useless website at this point. Most people that ask me for friend requests are bands I've never heard of and never will. Why would I want to be "friends" with some unsigned hardcore garage band out in California?

I had never had an interest in joining myspace or facebook. About a month ago I joined Facebook for the heck of it, and I enjoy it. I find it more "mature" than myspace. It's a good way to keep in contact with people I otherwise would have no contact with. So to answer your question, no, I am not on myspace and never will be.

I have both, and both have their flaws. I can understand why people like both. Facebook is easier to track people down on through other friends and whatnot based on the city they live in. However, I think there is too much going on and it's hard to keep up with. People send you "drinks", you start "waves" based on various teams. There's vampire clubs where you "slay" people, and all sorts of other things. There's a wall for comments, but then you can have a "super wall' and a graffiti wall. It's all too much. For that I don't like it.

Myspace I prefer because most of my friends are on there to begin with (when Facebook started you had to be in school, and I had already graduated, as did many of my friends). Yeah, there's hackers and spam, which can be annoying, but if you want a simple page, you can have that. For me, it's very easy for my band to book tours on myspace. We booked our entire tour of 2 weeks in about 3 days, before myspace it took about 3-4 weeks (we don't have an agent, we're too punk for that). I think overall myspace is easier to use and navigate on, but that's just me. There's too much cute and clever stuff trying to be accomplished by facebook. You can say the same about myspace with the backgrounds (luckily all my friends are old enough to not have some tiled picture covering the background where no one can read anything).

After the initial 4-6 months of checking out hot girls pages and trying meet new people online as I did about 3 1/2 years ago, it's become my main outlet for emailing, and much more convenient than deleting spam mail from my yahoo account.

I should add however, that in late August, someone hacked my Brew Crew myspace Page and changed the email on me. That pissed me off to no end. It hasn't been logged into since that day (and I was on vacation when it happened). I've worked with myspace to get it fixed, and there is a solution to get it back, but it's tedious and I haven't had the time yet. So for those that were on our friends list that checked it. I apologize, for that I hate myspace. I felt like a celebrity at times with that page when I'd hear people talking about it at bars and whatever. When I told them I ran it with a few friends, they'd buy me a drink occasionally, it ruled!!!

I have both MySpace and Facebook accounts and I think they're absolutely great for keeping in touch with friends. They both have privacy settings to prevent unwanted contacts and general junk. But I always am amused by the number of people that are 'above' MySpace/Facebook, lol. Fun stuff.

Turborickey... actually, the average age of a MySpace user is 35. Surprising, I know.

But that is based on what people tell MySpace. My 18yo brother told MySpace he was born in 1901, and I've seen a lot of other people do that also. That kind of changes the result when compiling an average.

I MySpace only because most of my friends/coworkers are the unmature kind. On coworker called me and several other coworkers to work for her on a Sunday afternoon. That night she updated her pictures with one of her wasted at a bar with the date and 3:00AM in the title. But I can't hate on MySpace too much since that is how I met my present girl.
