You didn't read the whole article. That's for the dinner. Normally I believe those dinner tickets are only available to the media and totally rich guys. The 14th there will be players signing in the fan zone. They're giving away a wristband to the first 150 people to guarantee that they will get an autograph for that session. I know I was furious when I didn't get Molitor this summer and there was really no way to tell where the cutoff was or anything, that and it prevents people from jumping the line (not that I've seen that happen at the Fan Zone, but have seen it happen many times on Autograph Fridays.

Ah okay, my mistake. Where did you find out about the 14th and the Fanzone? January 14th that is? Molitor this summer? what?

I had just read it on the Brewers release on the winter warmups. They didn't announce the players, but I'm assuming its Yo, Braun, and the other guys named for the dinner thing. When the 1982 Brewers were all in town this summer for the World Series anniversary most of them signed. Molitor and Yount were crazy, and people were jumping line and pushing all the way there, and it was insane.

I actually took the time to write a letter to the public relations on it because autograph Friday's has always seemed very organized and to put Molitor and Yount in the walkways along 1st and 3rd base line with no gates or anything to keep the line organized, I was really disapointed. Then I found out the next day that my friend got Sutton, Thomas, Simmons, Gantner, and a few other ones in less than 20 minutes. Guh.

well first off let me say that i'm not going to the dinner, i read the article, and i am going to the autograph sessions, but save money? Are you joking? How am I going to find a way to go to Arizona for cheaper than $175??? I'm not made of money, and I can't afford to go to Arizona, I have other things to pay for, so I think I will go for FREE, and just pay gas money to get 2-4 autos...

congrats to you for having expendable income and being able to afford that.

I think you're going a little over board BHF. I think what he is saying is that if you're going to spend that much money to sit down and have a dinner and get a few autographs, then you could use that money towards a trip to spring training. From reading his and and the next post, I don't think he realized that there would be a free autograph session without the dinner part. I don't want to speak for him, but I'm pretty sure thats what he was getting at.

A few years ago when they had the winter tour, they would have a dinner, and autograph session for $30. The autographs on that day were, Podsednik, Capuano, Hall, Gantner, Gorman Thomas, and Wayne Franklin. I got about 5 autographs of each player because you could go through line as many times as you like. Doug Melvin was also there. The Brewers have come a long way or something to jump from $30 for a dinner and autos to $175. No thanks to the dinner, but the autograph thing I just might have to get down there for.

I belong to neither of those groups, but I am going to the Winter Warm-up. The price tag does seem a bit steep, but it's my mid-winter baseball fix. I've gone in the past and it's a good time. The price does includes a Gehl Club ticket for April 5th (although I'm not a big fan of the Gehl Club...so maybe I'll do a Pedro ticket giveaway with those).

Anyone else attending?

Just what I was thinking. I wouldn't call myself strapped for cash, but paying $175 is a lot more affordable to me than taking a week off from work, paying for plane tickets, hotel accommodations, etc.

And us season ticket holders. I was sent an invitation several days ago via email. I don't think I have that much money to spend on dinner...

Brewers set Winter Warm-Up

The Brewers will host the Winter Warm-Up at Miller Park on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The Winter Warm-Up is the marquee event in a three-day celebration that includes autograph sessions, community events and live interviews previewing the 2008 season.

Brewers dignitaries scheduled to attend include manager Ned Yost, pitching coach Mike Maddux, bench coach Ted Simmons, National League rookie of the year Ryan Braun, Yovani Gallardo, J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart, Jeff Suppan and Rickie Weeks. Brewers prospects Mat Gamel and Matt LaPorta are also scheduled to attend.

As in years past, fans unable to attend the Winter Warm-Up at Miller Park will be able to tune in to live broadcasts on FSN Wisconsin from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on WTMJ AM-620 from 3 to 7:30 p.m.

Other events during the three-day celebration include two autograph sessions on Monday, Jan. 14, in the Fan Zone Store at Miller Park. Each session will include two Brewers players. The first session will begin at 5 p.m. and the second will begin at 6 p.m. The autograph sessions are free and the first 150 fans at each session will receive a wristband granting them access to an autograph from the participating players.

For more information on the Winter Warm-Up, go to www.brewers.com/winterwarmup or call 414-902-4277.

i still miss the first year they did the warm-up, there was no one there, and I got through the line twice for both groups, then last year was crazy, and I'm sure this year will be even worse.

I understand your outlook. There is no dancing around the issue - the Brewers failed miserably last season with crowd control around the autograph sessions. I did see some marked improvement towards the end so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they've learned their lesson. This year's warm up is being done with wristbands, thats a start. At least you'll know right away if your going to be shut out. It also means the chances for getting through both sessions has been greatly reduced. Oh well. If they can figure out a way to get people in and out without fistfights breaking out I can live without the extra sigs.

Tickets are sold out now anyways. But for the 175 it includes a free autographed gift, a dinner buffet, chance to mingle with all the players and coaches etc that are there in a business casual environment. It also includes a ticket to the Gehl club on April 4th against the Giants which on on that day includes 2 glasses of wine or beer, and a dinner buffett also.. I thought it was expensive just for that one night, but it includes the Gehl club too. . I'm going with my family
