Crazy Brewers Predictions...

twobrewers

In honor of the "I'm calling it line" on the Bob -N- Brian show, how about we get some crazy Brewer predictions down in writing...

(Aim for things you actually believe will happen - but most people would think incredibly unlikely)

I'm calling it...

Joe Dillon is the best 3B on the Brewers roster at year end.

Manny Parra has a better career than Yovanni Gallardo.

Mark Rogers has a success major league career as a closer.

Turnbow leads the NL in saves

Fatter than Joey votes Ned Yost as Manager of the Year in 2008!

Prince jacks 55 homers.

Weeks blasts 30 and is healthy the entire season.

Hardy starts out hot again hitting 20 homers before the all-star break.

Gallardo pitches like an ace, as Ben Sheets is buried on the DL for the first 2 months of the season with another freak injury.

Parra steps up into a starting position and has us finding it hard to remember who Ben Sheets even was.

Ryan Braun moves to LF, where he becomes a butcher to that position as well. Fans just laugh it off saying that "LF isn't importnat to winning games, so no big deal"

Ball Hall is traded at the trade deadline for a closer, since it took us that long to find out that Turnbow is an absolute hack at the position.

Yost gets canned at season's end! YES!

JJ Hardy and Rickie Weeks start to make people forget about Yount and Gantner turning the double play--well, maybe just forget it a little bit.

The Brewers will have a winning road record. (somebody said it first, but I believe it could happen)

Prince Fielder hits 60 and wins MVP

Sheets and Gallardo each K over 200 hitters

Turnbow starts off hot again, with 15-20 saves prior to the all-star break, only to totally lose it at Yankee Stadium at the All Star game as the AL comes back from a 4-1 deficit when he enters to make it a 5-4 NL defeat. This prompts Melvin to consider looking at trading for a closer at the deadline.

Bernie Brewer wears out his pant one day in June when he has to slide 10 times in one game--and 19 times over a series!

Gabe Gross gets 400+ at-bats and shows everybody that he's just a .275 hitter with a bit of pop.

Ben Sheets goes wins 16 games, including an 8-0 record after he is traded

Ryan Braun hits only 25 home runs and leads the league in strikeouts and errors

Prince Fielder hits 4 home runs in one game

The Brewers use at least 3 different closers

Jason Kendall bats .300, JJ Hardy bats .250

Rickie Weeks is named team MVP

The Brewers get a young catcher via trade

As said before Luis Pena is our closer

Brewers are never higher than 3rd in the division, losing record, Sheets gone

Rickie breaks out, and I mean breaks out. He becomes a faster Chase Utley and continues his modest improvement in the field

Our first major injury to a young guy. I'm guessing Hart destroys his shoulder--his lack of smoothness does him in.

The first five Brewer picks in the 2008 draft are college pitchers

Matt LaPorta can't hit lefties, stuck in AA, no more fast track, Sheeter is traded for young outfielder

Brewers fire Yost too late, but blossom under a new coach so much, that by the end of the season the rest of the NL Central fears us

Tony Gywnn ends up elsewhere and hits .286 with a .348 OBP

- John Kruk roots for the Brewers in September.

- Sheets hurts his shoulder trying to bunt; comes off the 60 day DL but suffers a return of the vertigo thing - pulls a hammy rolling over in bed.

- Brewers win 15 in a row but George Webbs goes out of business for using tainted meat in their burgers.

- Two brawls. One at Shea, one at Miller Park. Both involving Estrada. Maddux gets a black eye.

- Ryan Braun pulls a Sheffield and protests the move to LF by intentionally missing the cut-off guys every chance he gets.

- DM will trade a prospect to a team (any team) for a former Texas Ranger (TBD)...probably a washed up vet.

- Corey Hart assumes the role of Geoff Jenkins; 4 HR, .400 SLG before the All-Star Break. 25 HR, .600 SLG after

- Cirillo is back in a Brewers Uniform after [Free Agent] and Dillon replicate last year's Counsell/Graffy start.

- An 8 game division lead dwindles to a tie and- oh wait, that already happened.

- A closer by committee approach somehow translates into no blown saves in August and September.

Jason Kendall bats .310 and is lauded by teammates and media for his clubhouse leadership and handling of the pitching staff. However, he will only throuw out about 12% of base-stealers.

Prince starts out hot, but strains a hammy in May that he will be nursing for two months. Brad Nelson, who makes the team out of Spring as a backup corner OF/1B, fills in and, surprisingly, no one really notices that Prince is out.

National League MVP - Rickie Weeks! .325 BA, 42 HRs, 125 RBIs (after he's moved from the leadoff spot to #3)

J.J. Hardy's power leaves, but he becomes a terrific #2 hitter... .290 BA, over 200 hits, .390 OBP

Braun is moved to LF, and no FA or trade is made. Slick-fielding Adam Heether, an afterthought in the organization, comes to camp and explodes, forcing his way into the starting line-up (okay, this one is far-fetched, I know)

Tony Gwynn Jr. will establish himself as the team's starting CF and leadoff hitter. He'll swipe 40 bags and have a .375 OBP, while playing incredible defense in CF. People will compare him to a young Juan Pierre, without the noodle arm.

It will be closer-by-committee until May, with Torres, Riske, Mota and Turnbow splitting chances. Luis Pena will force his way into the role with huge numbers in Nashville.

Chris Capuano has a huge comeback year, while Sheets again is on and off the injured list. The "Who's our ace?" thread from years ago gets rekindled.
