Alfred E. Neuman School of Managing

JohnBriggs12

Peter Gammons was saying the same thing about Terry Francona's success. He's deft enough to change his style given the particular situation, and the particular human beings.

I guess tThat explains his 285-363 record with Philly. Or maybe it gives insight to how well Gagne did after they traded for him. I can't help but think his managerial genius, which occured about the same time he took over the Red Sox, has more to do with having players that can do what he asks of them than the other way around.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

You are sort of vague here -- Are you talking about 66PA with RISP? -- I am not sure what the fluke is/was. Turnbow is averaging 6BBs/9IP over the last 2 seasons -- a lot of the RISP that he faced were of his own doing. Turnbow's biggest problem is BBs, and I tend to think generally that BBs are less fluke driven

Oh I agree, Turnbow BB's too many for me to think of him as an even average RP. I just think the stats pointed out above with RISP are pretty much useless. They don't really say anything because it is such a small sample and for his career it hasn't held true.
