Arizona listening for offers for Valverde

Hey guys, its been awhile. Work has been ncrazy since late August.

 

Anyway, ESPN is reporting that the Diamondbacks are listening to offers for Valverde. That might be interesting, but not sure what they really need.

AZ is trying to add starting pitching, they're chasing Kuroda, and they've been discussing Haren with the A's.

They'd sure as heck have to send more than Valverde for Haren. A good starting point, I suppose. If a team is 'listening' like this, it means they want to be bowled over. I wouldn't want to part with Sheets for just a RP.

Well they wouldnt want Vargas back. Would they want Cappy again, maybe Bush. Maybe a midlevel prospect or 2.

Quentin is gone, Tracy is a health risk, does AZ have an OF or a 3B to match with Valverde, if they did approach the Brewers for Sheets?

Mark Reynolds could play 3B or LF. He is young and would fit in with the core of this team. Not sure that it is enough to get it done. Conor Jackson might be available but I dont see him being an average OFer.

It looks like Arizona wants quite a bit for Valverde (not to mention, he wants quite a hefty contract himself). Pass.
