Sheets? Latest: Dodgers, Mariners

From Rotoworld:

Melvin indicated that he was willing to listen to offers. The Brewers want an outfielder and would have to be interested in Matt Kemp. Sheets' price tag shouldn't be quite as high as that of Johan Santana, Erik Bedard or Dan Haren, but he won't come cheap, not with the Brewers aiming for first place next year.

I have a feeling Sheet's value on the trade market is much lower than we hope. We seem to all treat him as if he was injury free, while I highly doubt other teams would, even if they don't believe it will be a chronic problem. Because of this, and because we definitely could use him next season, I doubt talks will go anywhere. I also doubt the Dodgers would part with two top prospects/players for him, much less three.

Billingsley/Broxton/Kemp for Sheets/Capuano? Saves a ton of money that can be used on Rolen and Riske, and gets us the craziest of packages. But that's exactly what that package is...CRAZY! But I'm sure the Rays were just as surprised when their drunk dialing to NY paid off Scott Kazmir-style. I'll take Kemp and one of those two for Sheets.

The Dodgers certainly have a few players that the Brewers would love to get- Laroche and Broxton would be a heck of a starting point.
You guys are going to have to stop making offers like this. I may never stop drooling.

Broxton + LaRoche or Kemp for Sheets pretty much seals the deal for me.

I would be in heaven if we traded Sheets and maybe someone like TGJ plus someone like Jeffress or Hammond for Broxton and Kemp. Heck we have 6 top 75 picks coming are way, I wouldnt be afraid of dealing some prospects, especially considering the Crew wont need to worry about being "stocked" again for another 3 years. We have enough talent in the Bigs right now that we dont need the upper tier prospects knocking on the door, its not like we have some anyways with the possible exception of LaPorta and Salome I guess

If the rumor of the Dodgers offering Kemp, Broxton, and Kershaw for Bedard is true I would imagine we could get Kemp and Broxton for Sheets since Kershaw is the Dodgers most untouchable prospect right now.

2B-Weeks

SS-Hardy

3B- Rolen

LF-Braun

CF-Hart

RF-Ethier

7th inning- Riske

8th inning- Broxton

9th inning-Nathan

If I'm trading Sheets to the Dodgers, Broxton is part of the trade, otherwise no deal.

ABSOLUTELY I apologize for the all caps, but Broxton does need to be part of any deal to the Dodgers. One of the few young closer-quality pitchers I can think of who could be closing right now if he wasn't blocked.

Love the thoughts, but probably too good to be true.... Man, if all of those pieces came together, a long wait for opening day would just get that much longer!

I love Sheets, but I feel the Brewers are really in a catch-22 with him this year. If you re-sign him, you have no guarantee that he will be better or more healthy than he has been in the past few years. If you keep and he is hurt or bad he doesn't help you, and if he is good, the Crew most likely will not be able to re-sign him. If I could get a package of Ethier and Broxton I would have to think about it. I would love to do

Sheets plus for Ethier, Broxton, and a guy like Elbert who is a little younger with big time upside.

Put Ethier in Right, Hart in Center, Hall in left or trade or 3rd with Braun in left. Either way it gives the crew options and takes some of the risk out of the Sheets situation.

The Dodgers are offering Kemp and Broxton to everyone. They want to move Kemps uncaring attitude, and Broxtons fat laziness. We shouldn't take on either, as neither player will likely reach/maintain there potential.

My proposal: Sheets and Mench for Kemp, Broxton, and Laroche. Put Laroche at 3B, with Braun to the OF. Deal Kemp, Broxton, along with Bush and Baltimores choice of Gamel/Escobar/Gwynn to Baltimore for Bedard. Send Capuano to Colorado for Fuentes, and all the holes will be filled.

X - I have NEVER I heard anyone say that he has an "uncaring" attitude. I have heard "good" attitude and Down to earth, and the term "Gung Ho" or however you say it, but saying he doesnt care seems like kind of an unfair assumption.

Perhaps this comes from his runins with Jeff Kent - but Kent has been there before and id say he is the problem.

Honestly, I wouldnt even make Broxton a necessary piece to the Sheets Puzzle. To get a .300+ 30 - 30 - 100 guy who is making peanuts for a guy who might leave next year - ------ thats good enough for me.

And Broxton - yes he is overweight but I dont think you will find that he is lazy.

That said - I think its far more likely that the Crew could get Takashi Saito. I think the Dodgers are ready to hand the closer job to Broxton.

Actually, yeah, he is around 37, but he was quite effective last year. 1.40 ERA, 39 saves. According to rotoworld, as far as salary: 2007: $1 million, 2008: Near Minimum, 2009-11: Arb. Eligible, 2012: Free Agent.

I don't think he's going anywhere.

Wow - my bad - I guess I figured a 37-38 year old guy would be making alot more than that.

Still - Broxton was just about as good and is 23 years old. If I were a GM and had my choice it would be Broxton all day.
