TLR is what happend, I believe.

He played Encarnacion over him, and Taguchi, and pretty much everyone else. Rodriguez has been the Cardinals SABR crowd's poster boy for a few years. We are sorry to see him go.

Unfortunately, he had the bum luck of being in the Yanks organization and then the Cardinals...two teams that seem hard for young players to break with. Although, I hope that will get better with the Cardinals thanks to a change at GM. The Yanks also seem to be smartening up a little.

Last year, J-Rod was hurt for the majority of the year. He's a very, very poor defender, and he's awful on the bases. He's good as a pinch hitter, and he doesn't have the power he displayed in the minors that got him called up to StL initially.

Yea I was surprized too that he got optioned. He did well for the Cards in 05 and 06 as mentioned. He felt like a feel good story coming for a while there until last season.. Id take a flyer on him see whats going on with him, even if his D sucks, he'd be a nice pitch hitting option off the bench wouldnt he?
