Miguel Cabrera to Yankees for New Ballpark

Mentioned on ESPN as an out of the box idea from a viewer: Miguel Cabrera traded to the Yankees for $100 million dollars.

 

The Marlins could then use that money to build there new stadium.

 

Why not? I'm sure there's reasons, but it actually sounds rather interesting.

The Sox paid $51.1 million just to negotiate with Dice-K. I see it as plausible.

I think MLB rules allow for the "sale" of a player, or MLBPA would object to it.

 

It might be "outside the box" in America; however, that is the way that nearly all transfers of players take place in soccer. Lesser division teams "sell" their good players to top-flight teams; very few "free transfers" (essentially, there is little free agency). The money obtained has been used for the construction of new stands/stadiums (e.g. Motherwell's Fir Park; Dundee's Tannadice Stadium). Been true in Scotland and England.

Marlins could trade Cabrera to the Yankees with the promise that the Yankees buy the naming rights to the stadium. Yankee Stadium South
