Francisco Cordero Press Conference with Reds

TheBrewer

I think the Reds might be the biggest long-term threat to the Brewers right now, though the Cubs and Cards will always have more resources than either Cincy or Milwaukee. (Houston has resources but is old, with a terrible farm system and IMO poor management. Pittsburgh is Houston but without the resources.)

In some ways they are where the Brewers were a couple of years ago. They have premium young talent that is either just reaching the majors or on the brink of doing so: Bailey of course, but also Jay Bruce, Votto, Cueto, a few secondary talents like Stubbs and Mesoraco. They've had some successful trade acquisitions and some good reclamation projects, so there's talent on the current roster beyond Dunn and Griffey (Harang, Arroyo, Hamilton, Phillips, homegrown 3b Encarnacion).

I really don't see the Reds taking over the Brewers. The Brewers I would argue have had more talent the past few seasons and are still trying to get to the playoffs while the Reds have been very shady not coming too close. I realize they have Votto, Bruce now etc Bailey, but nonetheless. It could make it interesting this season, but I just find it hard to believe that the Reds could go to the playoffs after a 67W season? out of nowhere, while the Brewers have been trying to do it for the past few seasons and finished with a winning record this year .
